  • Jingoistic nonsense

It’s like the England band were insanely privileged and were allowed to talk

  • If you’re an England fan …

… this is THE pod you should be listening to. A combo of the earnest, detailed analysis of “Not the Top Twenty” fame plus the highly relatable, emotional fandom we all feel. Men’s, Women’s (can’t forget Robin and crew!), Unders - it’s all covered and all covered impeccably well.

  • Really enjoyable

Good podcast. Lovely to have some in depth discussion of the national sides from people who are invested as fans without falling into hype.

I’ve been a bit frustrated by some of the more established football podcasts that treat internationals as kind of an annoyance and cover them with an air “well talk about this, but we’re above it”. Nice to have one which enjoys international football for what it is without comparing it to club football or whining about how it breaks up the season.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

World Cup Betting Preview
Q: Any tips on Golden Boot and Top Goal Scorer markets that bettors should not overlook?
The discussion stresses that ties in Golden Boot scenarios are typically resolved by assists, and Dead Heat rules can alter payouts; players like Oyathabal, Havertz, and Vinicius Jr. are highlighted as strong contenders at different price points, with caveats about rotation and group-stage scheduling affecting who gets opportunities.
World Cup Betting Preview
Q: Which groups or teams do you think offer the best value to back to win their groups at bigger prices?
He points to teams like Morocco, Senegal, and Ivory Coast as underpriced contenders in certain groups, with attention to travel, climate, and the difficulty of their knockout routes, suggesting that price compensations may make these bets attractive if group dynamics play out as expected.
World Cup Betting Preview
Q: Nick, talk us through your thoughts in this market. Where do you see the value lying?
Nick highlights the balance between backing strong traditional powers for reliability and hunting value in teams with favorable group positions and realistic paths to deep runs, such as Belgium's improved form under new management and other non-traditional contenders that could outperform expectations given the tournament's structure.
Trent & Watkins out: Tuchel tears up script with 35-man squad
Q: With such a short time left before the World Cup and only a couple of training camps, what do the players called up who haven't been around the group need to do to earn a place?
They need to adapt quickly to Tuchel's system, prove themselves in training sessions, be decisive in limited minutes, and demonstrate leadership and composure on and off the pitch to justify selection for the World Cup.
Lee Carsley's on the pod ahead of the U21 Euros
Q: How motivated are you for this tournament with your new contract in hand?
He is motivated to perform well, recognizing the immediacy and pressure of tournaments.
