I too (as another reviewer mentioned) have a love-hate relationship with this show. I do believe that for most “normal” couples this advice would work, and I also do believe that the principles generally lead to not only happier relationships, but a happier life in general. However, I do not believe this works where there is an avoidant partner involved. After years of stress and loneliness and begging and pleasing and controlling, I was able to get a grip on myself and get “ridiculously happy.”... more
I used to rate this 5 stars. But there doesn’t seem to be many “teaching” episodes anymore. I’m not as fond of the longer interview style ones. At least if you do an interview, begin it with a few minutes of teaching again like you used to. I got a lot more out of those ones.
Just listened to an episode where a wife giggled as she admitted her husband was still with his mistress. You can respect your husband, but is it wrong to also respect yourself? If he’s not going to leave her, even when you’re supposedly doing everything “right”, why stick around? Doesn’t sound like the kind of life I would put up with. No thanks. I’ve also struggled with the skills myself and never got past the point of feeling like I was being manipulative. I’ve found that open discussion wor... more
I’ve never left a negative podcast review .. not sure if I’ve written a negative review for anything ever. But my heart breaks for any woman blaming and putting herself through hell to endure an abusive marriage and infidelity. According to this podcast, if wives nag less, speak softer, etc.. then husbands won’t abuse or cheat anymore.. yeah, that’s not how it works.
My advice - read “leave a cheater, gain a life”. Pray for wisdom, courage, and strength. And go to therapy - for YOU.. not him. ... more
I joined this group and paid for their monthly membership; read the blog; did the homework and attended the group sessions. Every step of the way was disempowering to me and any woman I saw in the groups; we are told to be 100% submissive; tolerant of any misbehavior including cheating- their version of a good wife is literally a floor mat with no rights, hopes, dreams or dignity!! Their group sessions are depressing to say the least! I can’t believe the level of emotional manipulation that is... more
