  • Kind of a mixed bag

Some Episode are quite interesting and informative, some are more of a advertisement for companies and some are just blatant Chinese propaganda. That ones are especially disappointing.

  • Information overload

I’m a PhD student working in the molecular biology field yet find myself drowning in acronyms and esoteric terminology throughout these podcasts that totally cloud the take home messages. Totally wrong style for a podcast- for an academic review one can sit down and take notes on, yes. But for a podcast? Nooooooo

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Is the UK set to become a radiopharma leader?
Q: How could the UK becoming a radiopharma leader impact patients and investment in the near term?
A UK leadership position could accelerate patient access to precise, effective therapies, attract investment in isotope production and supply chains, and catalyze a broader ecosystem that supports translational research and faster progression to late-stage trials.
Is the UK set to become a radiopharma leader?
Q: What are the biggest challenges in translating radiopharmaceutical research from pre-clinical to clinical development?
The main hurdles are generating robust, reproducible data that accurately predict patient outcomes and bridging the gap with integrative approaches that combine biology, imaging, and dosimetry to de-risk first-in-human studies.
What impact could protein stabilisation have for cancer patients?
Q: How is this approach being applied to HPV-positive head and neck cancer, and why was E6AP chosen?
E6AP was chosen because its inhibition can prevent the HPV E6 oncoprotein from degrading the tumor suppressor P53, and because loss of E6AP is tolerable in adults and highly selective, making it a compelling target in HPV-driven cancers.
What impact could protein stabilisation have for cancer patients?
Q: Could you explain what E3 ligases actually are and why they're an interesting therapeutic target?
E3 ligases are enzymes that determine which proteins get tagged with ubiquitin, marking them for degradation; by inhibiting a specific E3, you can prevent degradation and stabilize a protein, offering a targeted way to modulate protein levels in disease.
First-in-class mechanisms for the next wave of dermatology innovation
Q: What do you see going forward as the biggest opportunities and challenges and how will you define success for Alys in the next few years?
Portal points to the importance of executing clinical trials efficiently, addressing capital challenges, and translating scientific concepts into real patient benefits as key to defining success.
