  • Excellent source of info

Always followed Digital DJ Tips but to have the Q&A on a podcast for flexible listening is brilliant. It’s a great source of info on a range of DJ topics from reinforcing what you may already know, changing views on things and learning new stuff. Great! Many thanks you’ve helped me no end.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

"I can't get used to spinning platters!"
Q: Has AI got a place in helping DJs plan and play their DJ sets?
AI can assist at home for practice and planning, but in front of a crowd the human element—reading the crowd, instinct, and experience—remains essential; use AI tools to draft frameworks or generate ideas, then apply human judgment during live performance.
"I can't get used to spinning platters!"
Q: What's the best way to get used to moving platters? I'm looking for a new controller that's more pro-grade.
The latest digital units with motorised jog wheels feel very close to real turntables; the key is to focus on technique rather than gear, practice on pro setups when possible, and consider timecode vinyl with your DJ software if you want an authentic vinyl feel while using digital gear.
"I can't get used to spinning platters!"
Q: Does anyone know of at all for migrating DJ Pro playlists to Serato? My caveat is that most of the tracks in DJ Pro that I want to migrate to Serato are Apple music streaming tracks.
DJCU (DJ Conversion Utility) on Mac can migrate Apple Music streaming cue points and related data to Serato; Lexicon DJ is another option to consider, though availability for streaming services may vary and Mac is the recommended platform.
Do DJs still need websites in 2026?
Q: Is there a way to save settings on older DJ-S1000 units and what about USB drive formats?
Yes, use the project save function to store settings on the USB drive, and format drives as FAT32 for widest compatibility across DJ gear.
Do DJs still need websites in 2026?
Q: How should I choose a portable setup when traveling between venues or venues with space constraints?
Stick with Rekordbox if you already use it, consider compact units like Omnis Duo for portability, and use a sturdy flight case to project a professional image even when the gear is small.
