I’m very interested in hearing about Robert’s newest book, however, I’m struggling to get through this episode with Kate’s relentless interruptions. She speaks over him and interrupts constantly. This is too irritating to listen to. Very unprofessional.
Great informative podcast but so aggravating when the hosts keep talking over each other!
I do enjoy this series, but the thing that knocks it off the five star platform is how Robert Hardman tends to interpret or talk over his cohost. He puts off airs of sometimes being more knowledgeable in some situations, which may very well may be true, but does so in a very uppity and disrespectful manner.
Excellent podcast however the audio issues are very frustrating. While you can hear Profesor Williams clearly, Mr Hardman sounds like he is in a “different room” or does not have a microphone. I have to keep putting volume up when Mr Hardman speaks and then down when Profesor Williams speaks.
Otherwise fascinating stories told by very knowledgeable hosts.
Love it but jeez, Kate, stop cutting of Robert and talking so fast. He had to correct you in the last episode of Diana regarding the Crown’s response to Diana’s death, and you kept going…. I have to stop. She spoiled it for me.

Historical storytelling with a sharp, entertaining edge, this show pairs two royal-history veterans to pull back the curtain on the monarchy. Across episodes, listeners glimpse schemers, power plays, scandals, and the human side of iconic royals, all through rigorous context and lively debate. The duo blends scholarly insight with accessible commentary, often weighing fact against fiction, and they intermittently bring guest historians for fresh perspectives. Notably, the dynamic between the hosts—one a royal biographer and the other a royal historian—adds depth and contrasting viewpoints that keep history engaging rather than dry. Potential listeners will likely enjoy deep dives into well-known figures and lesser-known anecdotes alike, wit... more
