  • Please let Mr Hardman Finish a Sentence!

I’m very interested in hearing about Robert’s newest book, however, I’m struggling to get through this episode with Kate’s relentless interruptions. She speaks over him and interrupts constantly. This is too irritating to listen to. Very unprofessional.

  • Informative but hosts need to let each other speak

Great informative podcast but so aggravating when the hosts keep talking over each other!

  • Enjoyable, but…

I do enjoy this series, but the thing that knocks it off the five star platform is how Robert Hardman tends to interpret or talk over his cohost. He puts off airs of sometimes being more knowledgeable in some situations, which may very well may be true, but does so in a very uppity and disrespectful manner.

  • Excellent

Excellent podcast however the audio issues are very frustrating. While you can hear Profesor Williams clearly, Mr Hardman sounds like he is in a “different room” or does not have a microphone. I have to keep putting volume up when Mr Hardman speaks and then down when Profesor Williams speaks.

Otherwise fascinating stories told by very knowledgeable hosts.

  • Constant interruption.

Love it but jeez, Kate, stop cutting of Robert and talking so fast. He had to correct you in the last episode of Diana regarding the Crown’s response to Diana’s death, and you kept going…. I have to stop. She spoiled it for me.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Queen Catherine Howard: Vixen or Victim?
Q: What ultimately happened to Catherine Howard?
Catherine was executed at the Tower of London after Culpepper and Durham were found guilty; she reportedly practiced a dignified approach to death, and her final scaffold speech reflected the Tudor ideal of a controlled, ceremonial death.
Queen Catherine Howard: Vixen or Victim?
Q: Is Henry having a midlife crisis?
The hosts discuss how Henry's attempt to recapture youth manifested in his fondness for Catherine and in his progressive displays of power, noting the king's persistent optimism about personal romance despite his aging and political vulnerabilities.
Queen Catherine Howard: Vixen or Victim?
Q: On today's show, we have Catherine Howard, fifth wife of Henry VIII. Was she a seductress or was she a victim?
Suzannah Lipscomb explains that Catherine's early life in the Dowager Duchess's circle involved complex relationships and power dynamics; while sensational narratives portrayed her as a seductress, many historians argue that she was navigating an environment with significant coercive pressures and political calculations that ultimately contributed to her downfall.
Churchill & The Queen
Q: Who do you think was her least favorite Prime Minister?
It would likely be Edward Heath due to his indifference to the Commonwealth and European focus which conflicted with her priorities.
2: Did Queen Victoria secretly marry her servant?
Q: Did Victoria actually become Mrs Brown?
The overwhelming pressures of society, of her upbringing, her sense of supreme imperial self-importance, all suggest that no, this was not a physical relationship but a strong friendship.
