I’m very interested in hearing about Robert’s newest book, however, I’m struggling to get through this episode with Kate’s relentless interruptions. She speaks over him and interrupts constantly. This is too irritating to listen to. Very unprofessional.
Great informative podcast but so aggravating when the hosts keep talking over each other!
I do enjoy this series, but the thing that knocks it off the five star platform is how Robert Hardman tends to interpret or talk over his cohost. He puts off airs of sometimes being more knowledgeable in some situations, which may very well may be true, but does so in a very uppity and disrespectful manner.
Excellent podcast however the audio issues are very frustrating. While you can hear Profesor Williams clearly, Mr Hardman sounds like he is in a “different room” or does not have a microphone. I have to keep putting volume up when Mr Hardman speaks and then down when Profesor Williams speaks.
Otherwise fascinating stories told by very knowledgeable hosts.
Love it but jeez, Kate, stop cutting of Robert and talking so fast. He had to correct you in the last episode of Diana regarding the Crown’s response to Diana’s death, and you kept going…. I have to stop. She spoiled it for me.

Two sharp, well-informed historians deliver expert history with a wink, exploring the British monarchy beyond glossy public narratives. Episodes mix deep-dive analysis of royal eras with behind-the-scenes gossip, context on political power, personal scandal, and the evolution of image-making—often framed by the hosts' dual perspectives: a royal biographer's insider knowledge and a royal historian's scholarly lens. Notable strengths include high-quality, sourced storytelling and a dynamic, if occasionally argumentative, dialogue that both informs and entertains. The show leans into debates over historical accuracy versus dramatic license, while celebrating fascinating personalities, from long-reigning monarchs to modern-era public figures, c... more
