  • Guests are great! Ms Larson’s laughter is not.

While I find the guests who appear in episodes to be very knowledgeable and interesting, I am often distracted by the hosts laughter accompanied by comments which often throw off the pace and tempo of the show.

  • Enjoy Matt Lewis, but you’ve got the wrong photo

I really enjoy the conversations about the monarch’s. Unfortunately you have the wrong photo for Matt Lewis. Instead you have a photo of actor Matthew Lewis who played Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter films. Might want want to fix that.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Searching for Anne Boleyn: Facial Recognition, Secret Codes, and the Tower Letter
Q: What makes the ciphers in Henry VIII's letters significant, and what have you found so far?
The ciphers reveal a layer of coded communication that aligns biblical language and Reformation-era rhetoric with explicit requests, suggesting a sophisticated, targeted means of expressing affection and political intent, which requires careful linguistic and historical analysis.
Searching for Anne Boleyn: Facial Recognition, Secret Codes, and the Tower Letter
Q: How do you determine if a Holbein sketch actually represents Anne Boleyn?
We start from preparatory sketches and compare them with known likenesses, using modern methods to test proportions and features, while also considering provenance and the historical context of each image.
Richard III: The Parliament That Made Him Enemies
Q: Did Margaret Beaufort face execution for treason?
No. Although she was convicted of treason for aiding Henry Tudor's invasion, the Parliament proceedings led to her being spared death and placed under house arrest under the protection of her husband, Thomas Stanley, effectively forgiving or mitigating the punishment.
Katherine Gordon: Did She Believe He Was a Prince?
Q: What is the central question your article about Katherine Gordon tries to answer?
The article investigates whether Katherine Gordon believed her first husband was Richard, the supposed Prince in the Tower, by examining the reference to a cousin in her will and how that might indicate belief about Warbeck's identity.
Henry VI: From Crisis to Civil War
Q: Would you say that after 1450, Henry VI still had a chance to save his reign, or was everything after that simply delaying the inevitable?
The hosts argue that Henry had limited options and repeatedly failed to decisively remove York as a threat, choosing to delay action rather than settle the power struggle, which prolonged a fraught governance and allowed rival factions to gain the upper hand; ultimate stability depended on strong leadership and willingness to take drastic measures, which Henry consistently resisted.
