Update: Please leave modern politics out of the show. I just want to escape to a different time and don’t want your views of US politics.

  • Love the show mostly

I’m a patron so yeah I love it. The topics are a deep dive into mostly Tudor but more recently expanded to encompass a broader time frame. For example, the latest show featured Boudicca and Urraca. I’m all for bringing fascinating history to the forefront. I recommend Tudors Dynasty & Beyond with one caveat. If chit-chat is not your jam, just be forewarned there’s a fair amount if it’s Dr.Emma and Rebecca. If this is you, maybe skip the first 5-7 minutes of the show. Not that they aren’t fun, an... more

  • Dr. Emma and Me 1 &2

I couldn’t hardly listen due to the laughter and banter. Dr. Emma’s voice is squeaky and high pitched, put a filter on it. The subject matter is interesting, but I couldn’t get through it because of the inaneness. Won’t listen again!

The First King of England: Æthelstan and the Birth of a Kingdom

Yes, there's a text from Ely that suggests he had a daughter, but it might just be an error since it uses the name of one of his half-sisters instead.
The First King of England: Æthelstan and the Birth of a Kingdom
Q: What did it look like after Æthelstan's father died?
His father, Edward, died in 924 and there might have been a brief period of joint kingship with his half-brother Elfwayard before Æthelstan became the sole king.
Women Who Ruled the World
Q: How do you see queenship changing from the ancient queens to Queen Elizabeth II?
Queenship stays somewhat similar, but by the 19th century, it's much easier for women to reign without usurpation. Elizabeth II's reign shows that although she faced challenges, there were never serious questions about her being crowned as queen.
