I’ve listened to many episodes multiple times because there is so much to discover. Name a person or topic of the time, it’s here. Adam does an especially good job of giving his guests the room to shine and share their research, leaving no question unasked. Kudos to him for creating so many diverse, well-thought-out and produced, thought provoking episodes - each such a little treat.

  • Outstanding!

Not only do I love the emphasis on the importance of women during the Tudor reign, but I so appreciate the critiquing of films and books to make sure we stay on point and not become solely reliant on fantasy for historical references for the sake of entertainment. Bravo!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Judicial Murder of Anne Boleyn with Heather Darsie
Q: Can you explain this for me? What does it actually mean?
Henry became uncomfortable or was displeased with his Plantagenet cousin's wedding... so it was a very direct relationship with the peerage.
The Judicial Murder of Anne Boleyn with Heather Darsie
Q: Do you think she just didn't acknowledge the severity of this? Or do you think she felt that she was impervious to it?
I think that Anne probably had a good heart and she wanted to do well... she might have been trying to spread learning.
The Judicial Murder of Anne Boleyn with Heather Darsie
Q: So why did you choose to write it in that way, to break it into the two?
I wanted the book to be accessible to anyone who has just had a basic interest in her and maybe is more of a passion for Anne Boleyn and maybe not the same type of passion for history and analysis that I do.
The Judicial Murder of Anne Boleyn with Heather Darsie
Q: Is your career, because outside of being a historian writing these books, you are an attorney?
Yes, so I've worked as both a prosecutor and a public defender, so I've worked on both sides of the bench.
The King’s Traitor, Reginald Pole and the Tudors with Dr Helen Hyde
Q: What was it about Reginald Pole that made you want to write a book on him?
The lack of accessible biographies on him and his multifaceted personality drew her to write the book.
