  • Well done

I’ve listened to podcasts since they first came out. Anytime there is more than 1 speaker (eg a show host & a show guest) it’s always risky due to banter & interpersonal dynamics. Heather is the main speaker with an occasional guest. Always Heather is on topic & always the history is presented in a context that is relatable. I ordered the 2026 planner & can’t wait to see it. Her level of professionalism exceeds other podcasts & I for one greatly appreciate Heather staying on topic & presenting s... more

  • Very much enjoy this podcast

I am extremely picky about accuracy and interesting content and this podcast nails both. I like that you can tell this is a passion project and appreciate the amount of preparation the host clearly puts into each episode. I also valued the host (briefly) sharing her experience with pregnancy loss early in the show. It showed considerable bravery and vulnerability and helps bring awareness to a difficult, often ignored experience that impacts many, many people each year. Bravo!

  • It’s fine.

I like the subject, but sometimes it just sounds like a professor who is bored with their own lecture. Dry reading of a script, complete with this-is-where-my-joke-goes jokes, like it’s a lecture she’s read 500 times.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

[YouTube Drop] What if Henry IX had lived?
Q: What do you think would have been different had Henry Duke of Cornwall lived?
Many pivotal historical events and the trajectory of England's religious and political landscape would have changed significantly.
[YouTube Drop] Jane Seymour: Was She Really Henry VIII’s Only True Love?
Q: Was Jane Seymour actually Henry VIII's only true love?
Probably not; Henry loved passionately, but he always loved conditionally, often based on what he received in return.
[YouTube Drop] Henry VIII’s Mind
Q: What do you think is the importance of looking at rulers' mental health?
They are the leaders. A lot of what they say kind of goes, they're the ones who lead the direction for their countries.
[YouTube Drop] Henry VIII’s Mind
Q: How do you avoid putting modern frameworks on somebody 500 years ago that's not even here?
It's really delicate. You have to be very careful with that. I think it is easy to see everything through a modern lens when it comes to stuff like that.
Dressing Anne Boleyn
Q: How is it that the velvet is cut?
Velvet is cut with a precision tool, likely a razor, in a detailed and labor-intensive process.
