  • There’s so much to learn

I was introduced to Mike Neil and Assoc. through a previous employer. He taught me so much about how important it is to be a leader who manages a team, keeps morale, getting more engaged employees and what to do with the (un)willing and (un)able. He is a wealth of knowledge and has worked with countless Credit Unions. I learned a lot from him and still listen to the podcast and recordings he has sent.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Delegation: Did We Match Mike
Q: How can you tell if a task should not be delegated?
If a task doesn't empower employees, fail to drive engagement, or isn't aligned with developing capability and enthusiasm, it may not be suitable for delegation. Crises and vision-critical leadership duties also typically remain with the leader.
Delegation: Did We Match Mike
Q: What are the biggest hurdles new managers face when delegating simple tasks?
New managers often struggle with distinguishing between important vs. simple tasks, selecting the right people, and avoiding turning delegation into mere task dumping. They should focus on developing enthusiastic leaders, setting meaningful outcomes, and maintaining engagement rather than just offloading work.
Work-Life Integration: Lead with purpose, not pressure
Q: How personal should one-on-ones be for remote teams?
Keep coaching focused but allow space for relationship-building within structured, quick check-ins, and use the personal connection to reinforce purpose and accountability.
Work-Life Integration: Lead with purpose, not pressure
Q: When do I coach if I'm multitasking all day?
Have a consistent plan with a cadence—weekly or monthly—so coaching isn't a surprise and teams know what to expect.
Proof of Purpose - Measuring Mission and Financial Wellbeing with Andy Bandyopadhyay
Q: What is the simplest way for a listener to capture a proof of purpose moment for coaching sessions?
Start by asking whether employees are financially better off this month than last month and prompting reflection on why or why not, then provide channels for anonymous feedback to the benefits team if needed; use concrete examples like timely credit reports and meetings that link actions to mission.
