I am a pretty big history guy, and the US Civil War is a particularly interesting topic to me. Unlike WW2 History or World History, this all took place in locations you can visit and see as an American without leaving your country. My first exposure was walking around Wilson’s Creek NBP with my Grandma, and it is still my favorite battlefield even after visiting some of the big ones (Manassas, Antietam, Gettysburg). more
The hosts have really evolved since the first days. I am so glad Tracy has become a mainstay. The pair of them really make the podcast special. The one feature that has carried throughout is they are earnest in their endeavor. They deftly avoid ridiculous Lost Cause narratives and in fact debunk them. They thoroughly cover topics in depth. Too many personal politics that seep into the show. I’d much rather just listen to facts vs one male host’s personal opinions about modern day politics being applied to the past. It is really lame! How much personal politics feed this show! #fail
