  • I Love The Show…

I love the show… however, please don’t preach your politics or attack poker sites. I’m a poker player. I’ve made plenty of money on CoinPoker, ACR and other sites. I live in a country that doesn’t have poker regulation. We have to play the “gray” sites. The government has no business in the game. If they step in and regulate things, then you can consider anything they implement as additional rake. I have deposited as cashed out many times without incident. Is this guy a plant from sites that Coi... more

  • An iconic show.

Over the years The Chip Race has featured all the most interesting and engaging characters in Poker, and has covered all the stories, big and small, with integrity, insight and humour. I hope for everyone in the game that they find a way to keep going.

  • By far the best poker podcast out there.

Great guests with really interesting interviews. Also top strategy content with different guests talking through hands every episode. Daniel Negreanu is understood to be a huge fan. The only real negative is that I’ve yet to be invited on. Probably just an oversight

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

200TH EPISODE - Jennifer Tilly Daniel Weinman Jamie Dwan
Q: How do you view the role of technology and live RFID in poker's future?
Tilly and Weinman describe using technology to enhance social aspects of poker rather than replace them, with RFID enabling real-time tracking and streaming, but care must be taken to preserve human interaction and fair play.
200TH EPISODE - Jennifer Tilly Daniel Weinman Jamie Dwan
Q: What was it like facing the biggest main event mass of attention and sponsorships after your win?
Weinman discusses balancing desire for privacy with the opportunities that come after a breakthrough win, emphasizing that he didn't want to promote online casinos or gambling products he didn't believe in, and that the fame shifted his choices and sponsorship opportunities.
S28E3 - Thomas Boivin Daryl McAleenan Kyna England Matt Savage
Q: What, in your opinion, are the deficiencies in the liquidity model for satellites and why might a different system be better for players overall?
The live satellite ecosystem benefits from allowing multiple seats per player because it maintains liquidity and publicity, while the risk is that too many seats or early payouts can dampen participation. A balance is needed where there are enough qualifiers to preserve value and visibility, but not so many that the field becomes overcrowded or late-reg heavy. A hybrid approach—limiting some seats upfront while preserving multi-seat options—can maintain broad access and still keep events attractive for pros and recreational players alike.
The Lock-In 112 - Sam Greenwood
Q: How does Sam frame the evolution of poker content—from live streams and blogs to AI-driven clips—and what does it mean for aspiring players?
Sam argues that while short-form content and AI tools accelerate reach and engagement, lasting value comes from deep, principled study, long-form content, and a disciplined, brick-by-brick approach to skill development.
The Lock-In 112 - Sam Greenwood
Q: Brad Owen's downswing and its impact on his identity as a player and content creator—what does this reveal about the pressures on top professionals?
It shows that even elite players face identity and mental pressure during downswings, and that authenticity in sharing struggles resonates with audiences while underscoring the ongoing balance between performance, sponsorship obligations, and personal well-being.
