  • Robert Melillo

The way this guy was talking, overconfident in his own theories as though they are established facts, and relying only on his own “research”, set off pseudoscience scam artist alarm bells for me, and I looked him up, and sure enough, there are reviews from former employees and patients who say he is scamming people, and an NPR investigation was done a while back. I think the podcast host should be more skeptical and scientific, as a psychologist.

  • Informative Show but Uneven Volume

I’ve definitely learned a few things about parenting listening to this show. It’s well narrated and the show has good guests. My only annoyance is that somehow the main portion of the show is quite faint such that I have to max out the volume, then the ads explode in my ear.

  • Definitely 5 stars - for everyone!!

This is definitely one of my favorite podcasts!!! I think I first heard the Tammy & Tania speak either at a conference they had or if they spoke at one but I think it was theirs - I was an immediate fan and I purchased the annual membership for their program and I absolutely love it!! They really explain things so well that it’s so easy to understand. Of course I bought the book when it was a presale and as I expected I love that too!! They are intelligent on every area of child development a... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

ADHD: Why Traditional Approaches Fail, Episode #176
Q: How should parents think about rewards for teens with ADHD?
Rewards should be used cautiously and framed as healthy, time-limited incentives that support engagement without conditioning long-term dependence on external prizes.
Raising Kids Who Make Others Feel Like They Belong: How to Foster Inclusivity and Battle Racism, Episode #177
Q: What practical steps can families take to promote anti-racist thinking without making conversations political?
Engage in ongoing, age-appropriate discussions about differences, provide books and questions that spark curiosity, practice advocacy roles through role-plays, and connect classroom learning with real-life incidents to reinforce understanding and action.
Shrink Your Worries with Poppy 'O Neil, Episode #174
Q: What is bravery, and how can parents encourage it in a way that's realistic for anxious kids?
Bravery is feeling the fear and choosing to act anyway; the motivation to engage should be bigger than the worry, and parents should model brave behavior and celebrate small steps rather than expecting perfection.
Shrink Your Worries with Poppy 'O Neil, Episode #174
Q: So, hi Tammy and Tanya. My nine-year-old daughter has started avoiding social situations. How do I help her grow her bravery without pushing too hard?
Begin with calming the body through breath and movement, validate the feeling, and then gradually scaffold exposure with practical steps like going to a family party or small social interactions, using a balloon metaphor to keep bravery at a manageable level, and ensuring a safe adult is present to support them.
When Good Moms Feel Bad: How to Transform Parental Guilt, Anger, and Anxiety with Rebecca Geshuri, Episode 171
Q: If we've got parents listening and they're trying to figure out this whole manager versus firefighter dynamic, what do we do with those parts?
The first step is to identify the parts and practice unblending to create space between yourself and the part causing distress.
