  • Great podcast

I really enjoy listening to The Bridge. The guests are great and knowledgeable, and the podcast shares information about China that you simply won’t hear in Western media. I’ve learned a lot about the country and gained a much better understanding of cultural differences.

  • Informative and entertaining podcast for an American like me getting prepared to visit China!

I’ll be visiting China from the US in a month and this podcast has helped ease anxieties and brought more understanding to the culture for me. I would love an episode on other ways a foreigner can get prepared to go to China - such as misconceptions about unlawful arrests (misinformation spread online makes China seem dangerous), medications we can or should bring, to use a VPN or not, any adjustments you had to make when going to China, etc. Thanks again!

The truth about the Tibetan language
Q: What lessons can be drawn about socialism with Chinese characteristics from Shizong's example?
Shizong demonstrates entrepreneurship, local initiative, and state backing converging to modernize while preserving culture, showing how socialist-oriented development can coexist with cultural preservation and local autonomy.
The truth about the Tibetan language
Q: How do boarding schools function in Tibet and what does that say about cultural policy?
Boarding schools were shown to be well-funded, with Tibetan students learning both Tibetan and Han languages, challenging the idea of forced assimilation and illustrating that language preservation can be part of broader modernization efforts.
The truth about the Tibetan language
Q: What surprised you most about how Tibet preserves its culture and language in a modern state?
I was struck by how Tibetan language is taught in schools alongside Mandarin, and how cultural centers, signs, and everyday life reflect a proactive investment in Tibetan culture rather than erasure, which challenges prevailing Western narratives.
Trump's visit and the coming multipolar World
Q: What is the role of currency and trade in advancing multipolarity?
Vittachi explains that China is encouraging the use of other currencies and digital stability coins to reduce dollar dependency, while traditional goods/services trade continues to evolve with infrastructure projects enabling service-based economic shifts.
Trump's visit and the coming multipolar World
Q: How do you see Taiwan and Hong Kong fitting into the multipolar transition?
He argues Taiwan mainly seeks a peaceful status quo with Beijing, while the US and some allies push for trouble, implying that a peaceful reunification framework could emerge under a broader strategic realignment, though US actions complicate this.
