  • I have had to reevaluate this as a previous supporter. The Breach is undermining it's credibility by failing to fact check itself. The episode reviewing 2025 has completely failed to report who is the Minister of Agriculture in Canada (isn't Kody Blois, it's Heath Macdonald). And what the heck are they referring to about increasing numbers of animals slaughtered? I'm calling bull and a lack of basis is reality. Seriously, why haven't they been fact checking their episodes?

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Alberta separatists vs. First Nations
Q: What is the duty to consult and how does it apply to the October referendum in Alberta?
The duty to consult requires the government to engage with Indigenous peoples before making decisions that could infringe on treaty rights; in this case, the court ruled the process lacked proper consultation, blocking the referendum unless such consultation is carried out.
Alberta separatists vs. First Nations
Q: And what have courts said in the past about separation and Indigenous treaty rights?
Courts have drawn a line between political questions and legal obligations, requiring negotiation and recognition of duties to consult when Indigenous rights may be affected, as seen in the Quebec secession reference and the later Haida decisions defining the duty to consult.
The NDP MP calling for ‘unapologetic socialism’
Q: Why support Avi Lewis as the leadership candidate?
Because his campaign demonstrates strong movement-building potential, wide community engagement, and a commitment to true democratic socialism, which Gazan argues is essential for revitalizing the party and pushing back against entrenched corporate power.
40 years of trying to make the NDP democratic socialist
Q: How does Rebick view the balance between movement politics and electoral politics in shaping the NDP's future?
She argues that sustainable change comes from building a movement that remains connected to social movements, rather than relying solely on electoral campaigns or party machinery, and that leadership campaigns should serve to grow organizing hubs and local activism.
40 years of trying to make the NDP democratic socialist
Q: What drives Judy Rebick to keep engaging with the NDP despite long odds and setbacks?
She describes a persistent belief in the possibility of transforming political power through grassroots organizing and a commitment to democratic socialism, fueled by experiences in past campaigns and the energy she sees in Avi Lewis's campaign.
