  • Schmuck.

His interviews are like interrogations. This nebbish also talks to his guests like he “of course”! knows everything and everyone. Oy vey.

  • Hope You Like Forwarding Ads

I just discovered this podcast at someone else’s recommendation. Bob and his guests are typically great (unless they’re young and famous or old and British). Other than that, after the first season he decided to include several 2.5 minute ads randomly in each episode and they became a nuisance. I have been listening for about a month and am now in about Spring 2020. Not sure I can make it to 3/2026 if the bombardment of 3-minute ads continue

  • Bob is a legend

Great interviews done in a somewhat unconventional style. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but he’s done/lived the research. Deep dives into topics, personalities and music. Highly recommend.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Jeff Ross
Q: How did you get into the world of roasts and become the Roastmaster General?
Ross describes a gradual rise from club work to Friars Club roasts, proving himself through live performances, strategic TV appearances, and building relationships with producers and peers, which culminated in a role where he could shape big, televised roast events.
Dayna Goldfine & Dan Geller
Q: How hard was it to get major figures like Paul McCartney and James Taylor to participate?
It varied; some offered on-camera participation, others provided archived material or consent to use recordings; touring schedules and camp approvals made scheduling complex, but the team found workarounds and allies (e.g., using tapes or non-on-camera input) to preserve the film's integrity.
Vince Gill
Q: What was it like performing with the Eagles after Glenn Frey's passing and then stepping into a historic role?
It was a solemn yet meaningful opportunity; I approached it with humility, knowing it was a chance to honor the band's legacy while contributing to new chapters in their story.
Vince Gill
Q: How do you balance the democratic vibe in the studio with a shared goal of making a great record?
It's about focusing on the song, listening to everyone, and letting that shared purpose guide decisions rather than ego; the result is a performance where everyone shines.
John Zogby
Q: Do you think there could be mass protests or systemic change like in past upheavals?
Mass protests are a plausible response in a highly polarized environment, especially if leadership capitalizes on divisiveness; however, a sustained systemic change requires new policy focus and broad coalition-building beyond polling signals.
