  • What fun!

I played 1st edition when it came out and haven’t played since. I love this pod cast (at episode 150) Fantastic story line, great non annoying sound track (ambient style) . The best dnd podcast out there as not over dramatised.

Includes a bit of random chit chat ( cheese, beer, drooling dogs, nostalgic references) but as an intro rather than interrupting the story flow. ‘ age of worms’ . Now up to date with episodes. Still fantastic! And continues to be the quintessential D&D 5e actual play p... more

  • Awesome quality entertainment

This is a beautifully balanced podcast, with all the elements of great gameplay, some chat about game mechanics and plot, but with all the banter between friends that for many people lies at the heart of role playing games.

It is, from the start, very well edited and constructed. But as the characters and their interactions become more beloved as the podcast continues it gets better and better.

The podcast is a regular topic of conversation around our gaming table.

Bonus Episode - Mega Dungeon Men with Gareth Hanrahan
Q: How are you going to approach this Metadungeon project, and what are the structural choices you're making to balance historical flavor with gameable play?
The response outlines a phased structure that moves through different eras, maintains a playable dungeon experience, and uses metafiction to reflect real history while ensuring the GM has support material and pathways for varied player choices; it also discusses the tension between a strict, prepackaged experience and open-ended toolkit-style design.
Bonus Episode - Mega Dungeon Men with Gareth Hanrahan
Q: So Gareth, why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself, and then tell us a little bit about The Metadungeon, and we're going to have to get into how that then interacts with the DIE role-playing game.
Gareth describes his 20+ years in the game industry as a writer and designer, lists credits across Traveller, The One Ring, Cubicle 7, Free League, and explains that Metadungeon is a six-level megadungeon exploring the history of role-playing games, intertwined with the DIE meta-narrative and its mechanics.
Episode 282 – The Final Countdown
Q: So I think this is going to be a bit like The Sim Samurai, you know, the final battle?
The implication is that they need to prepare for a grand and possibly lethal confrontation.
Episode 234 – In the Gallery
Q: How do you keep your solo narrative going?
At first, it's tough because you just have to create everything, but after a while, the accumulated story elements begin to take on a life of their own, allowing for smoother storytelling.
Episode 225 – Away in a Danger
Q: Are you casting any special spells during our turns?
The hosts discussed the spells they would be casting, along with the advantages they give.
