  • Thank god Joyce Eng joined

She’s the only prognosticator I want to listen to on this podcast. She does her research and comes prepared with stats/facts.

  • Insufferable Joyce

What is with Joyce Ng’s annoying habit of naming actors only by their first names, like she hangs out with them? ( ‘Timmy’ for Chalamet…please!) she tends to dominate every discussion, and not with any discernment or wit. I loved Joey Noto’s insightful, sometimes acerbic commentary on films. She has ruined this podcast for me.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Saying goodbye to 'Hacks' with a spoiler-filled chat, 'Half Man' star/creator Richard Gadd
Q: Why did you choose to reveal key backstory elements, like Ruben's father, in the finale?
Gadd felt it was important to leave enough seeds earlier in the series to justify the late reveal, ensuring the audience could plausibly understand Ruben's vulnerability and the origins of his alpha behavior without tipping too much too soon.
Saying goodbye to 'Hacks' with a spoiler-filled chat, 'Half Man' star/creator Richard Gadd
Q: What was the most challenging aspect of adapting Half Man after Baby Reindeer?
Richard Gadd explains that moving from a more insular, darkly comic project to a psychologically intense drama required a shift in tone, not just performance. He leaned into a reality-based approach, kept the writing grounded, and relied on robust collaboration with Jamie Bell and the team to preserve authenticity while exploring darker themes.
'Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' and 'Surviving Mormonism' star Heather Gay, inside the guest actor categories
Q: How did Surviving Mormonism come to be and what drove you to pursue it as a project?
Heather explains that Surviving Mormonism grew from a personal drive to give a platform to survivors, inspired by Leah Remini's Scientology exposé, and from a belief that telling these stories could catalyze broader awareness and change within and beyond the Mormon community.
‘The Pitt’ star Katherine LaNasa, and Cannes-tenders
Q: You've played doctors and nurses before; how did Dana's experience in The Pitt shape your approach to the character?
Dana's blend of toughness and vulnerability came from truly living the job's realities, not just reading lines. I drew on the hospital experience and the way Dana navigates trauma, relationships, and leadership to make her feel foundational to the show's pulse.
'All Her Fault' star Dakota Fanning, Oscars rule change, Tony nominations, more
Q: What's a lie you've told to get a job?
Dakota recounts a brief moment from a commercial audition where badminton was required, which she hadn't learned, and how she and her mom improvised to try to fit the brief, ultimately not getting the part.
