  • Quit predicting

Oscar season ruins so many podcasts. I’d rather hear Katy and Chris talk about the actual movies rather than acting like sportscasters. Oof.

  • Like this better than all the other film/tv podcasts

I have been listening to several film and TV podcast over the last few years. A couple of them are quite good. But I was glad to stumble upon this podcast. I’ve liked every episode, which is definitely not the case with the other shows.

  • Like Katie (and Chris) but some co-hosts …

I like Katie because she seems very down to earth but knows her stuff. But some of the guest co-hosts are bad - especially Richard Rushfield. He was an embarrassment on the movies of the year podcast (and I had the same feeling last year). He’s hardly seen any movies, comes in unprepared (didn’t even have the correct title of If I Had Legs I’d Kick You) and seems generally clueless of the current movie environment. This is the last time I’ll listen to a podcast he’s on.

  • Love Katie!

Katie being pushed out at LGM was a bummer to me, so I’ve loved having her back in action. She’s such an engaging, smart and funny host and producer. Eager to get more Richard Lawson on the pod, but it’s been good hearing from a diverse range of guests (which LGM has often lacked, having to stick with the VF roster). Much prefer the analysis and news section of the show to the celebrity interviews- I get my interviews elsewhere like THR

What Steven Soderbergh Wants to Be Remembered For, Plus a Look Ahead at Emmy Season
Q: Why painting as the form for The Christophers, as opposed to another art form?
Soderbergh explains that painting allows a solitary, isolated artist to still engage in a meaningful collaboration with a younger forger, creating a dynamic interplay between independence and mentorship that suits the film's themes of legacy and generational handoffs.
The Project Hail Mary Miracle, With Drew Goddard
Q: Last question for you: premiere tomorrow, opening weekend coming up—how do you handle opening weekend anxiety?
The guest reflects on the balance between personal enjoyment and professional pride, noting that the three-week window around release is what most memory matters for, while emphasizing gratitude for the experience and collaborators.
The Project Hail Mary Miracle, With Drew Goddard
Q: The soul of the movie—how do you get that relationship between Grace and Rocky on the page given the puppetry and effects?
Goddard describes writing with a director's eye, collaborating with the visual effects and puppetry teams, and focusing on the emotional core between Grace and Rocky to guide storytelling.
The Project Hail Mary Miracle, With Drew Goddard
Q: And does that put a ticking clock on there with people knowing about it and wondering where it is eventually?
Goddard explains that while outside pressure exists, it can be a 'good problem' to have when there is excitement around the project, and that persistence and clear vision helped sustain development.
The Project Hail Mary Miracle, With Drew Goddard
Q: So Drew, if you don't mind me just rewinding to start with, because as you well know, any movie getting made is kind of a miracle that it gets through the process at all.
Goddard discusses the long, collaborative journey from initial idea to a finished script, emphasizing how the team kept momentum during pandemic-era delays and how early drafts and a strong package helped greenlight the project.
