  • Two extremely relatable friends - love this show

Matt saying tune in next episode to learn more about how to “autistify “ your life - new favourite word unlocked 😂… also, I strongly disagree with the folks who requested 30 minute episodes…. I feel like y’all stop talking right when things are getting going! I find it so satisfying to listen to conversations that are filled with digressions and side quests that I imagine are completely disorienting to the allistics but I follow them with ease and satisfaction! Love listening to the two of you.... more

  • This will make your weird little autistic heart sing!

You know that thing where somebody who knows a lot about a subject talks excitedly about it? And you can just tell it's making them extremely happy? And it's super fun to behold, even if you don't actually know anything about the subject at hand? Yeah… If you like that thing, you should listen to this podcast. Because there's gonna be a lot of that.

And if, as you listen, you find yourself wondering "hey...am I maybe maybe autistic?" first of there's a good chance (neurotypical people do not, i... more

  • I’ve needed this

I try not to be a person who counts down days—living in the present and all that—but I do find myself waiting and waiting for Friday so I can listen to the next episode. I love the insights, and also the humor and the “realness.” I feel seen and I learn so much! Thanks for making this!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 43: Special Interests, Safe Spaces, and Saying No to Shame
Q: What makes this space welcoming for autistic people?
The environment is designed to reduce shame around joy, with a focus on storytelling, show-and-tell, and inclusive conversations that honor each person's collection and interests.
Episode 43: Special Interests, Safe Spaces, and Saying No to Shame
Q: How did you decide to convert an interest in horses into a brick-and-mortar store?
The decision came from recognizing that the online world can be limiting; people crave live interaction and a space where they belong. We wanted a physical place that could grow a community around shared passion, not just sell products.
Episode 40: Teen Girls, Missed Diagnoses, and the Cost of Just Calling It Anxiety
Q: How do you approach harm reduction with teens who self-harm or experience intense sensory overwhelm?
They discuss creating a supportive crisis plan, using Distract and Delay techniques, and offering a menu of safer coping strategies that can be tried in sequence to reduce harm while addressing sensory needs.
Episode 40: Teen Girls, Missed Diagnoses, and the Cost of Just Calling It Anxiety
Q: Tell us a little about why you chose to focus on neurodivergent girls in your book.
Jamie explains that many teen girls with neurodevelopmental differences go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed because their presentations differ from the classic male-focused autism profile, and their experiences with depression, anxiety, or feeding/eating issues often mask the underlying neurodivergence.
Episode 32: Discipline, Dysregulation, and Why Punishment Doesn’t Work
Q: What are some other methods you use for discipline?
Discipline should be about teaching and learning rather than punishment, focusing on understanding the child's behavior and fostering critical thinking.
