  • An informative and enjoyable listen

Even tho we live in Ottawa, we’re hooked on Andrew’s podcast (from a visit to the Eastern Townships last fall). Totally enjoyable and informative. Great segments with Tom and Dr. Mitch and other guests. Andrew has a nice casual approach; and we enjoy his wit.

  • Speaking for the ones that can’t.

Andrew has to stop interrupting his coworkers. They feel it and so do the audience.

  • Tom Mulcair political analysis

Tom Mulcair deserves his own podcast. We can not always catch his weekday segments in the am with Andrew Carter and in the pm with Aaron Rand.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Comedian and director Bruce Ian McCulloch brings his comedy to Montreal
Q: So how long have you been doing stand up then?
McCulloch explains that he started with improv and wrote material for a one-person show, tracing the development of his stand-up into a personal, story-driven performance.
As U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran continue, what does it mean for Canada?
Q: So tell me, is there going to be real change in Iran and what would it take for that to happen?
The guest suggests that leadership changes might occur without triggering a major political overhaul, and emphasizes that events like high-profile killings can affect public sentiment and succession dynamics, but are unlikely to overhaul the regime. Achieving meaningful change would require shifts beyond leadership, including broader reform pressures and regional realignments, which are not easily attained even amid escalating conflict.
Dr. Mitch: Are weight loss drugs truly solving obesity?
Q: Are there any notable risks or uncertainties mentioned about these medications?
The discussion highlights uncertainty around long-term outcomes and behavioral changes, emphasizing cautious optimism and the need for ongoing monitoring.
Dr. Mitch: Are weight loss drugs truly solving obesity?
Q: What do we know about long-term implications for weight loss management with these drugs?
Long-term data is limited since most experience has been with diabetes; we don't yet know the full effects of sustained weight loss use over many years.
Dr. Mitch: Are weight loss drugs truly solving obesity?
Q: What could be the broader societal and healthcare impact if these drugs become more affordable?
Expect shifts in consumer behavior, restaurant demand, and potentially reduced healthcare burdens from obesity-related conditions, though the economy and health system will need to adapt to these changing patterns.
