  • Great diverse program

The Agenda has long been standing as informative and conversational program cover a very wide range of topics and issues. There is discussion here for everyone. I appreciate the diverse groups of people they bring to the table even if I disagree with them. The hosts often ask questions or follow up in ways to help the listener have a better understanding.

I also don’t understand the beef people have with Paikin, I think he is a great and knowledgeable host!

  • The Most Unbiased Show On TV

Steve has been an unbiased and even keeled host for as long as I have been watching him. The agenda is not afraid to have people from all sides of the political field come and share their views.

I appreciate that there are people in the world who are making informed and interesting content about the issues that affect Canadians.

  • My favourite.

I consider this show to be one of my most trusted sources for current affairs and Ontario specific news. It is refreshingly non-partisan and has diverse panels. I love their coverage of hyperlocal issues because it is increasingly rare to find in the media climate. The host, Steve Paikin, is consistently professional and knowledgeable about his subjects, but is not a soft-ball interviewer.

I’ve religiously watched the TVO television broadcast version since 2012 and was delighted when they star... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

How Big a Threat is Nihilistic Violent Extremism?
Q: Nihilistic, violent extremism, what is that, and why is it, I guess, so confounding for you?
Amarnath Amarasingam explains that nihilistic violent extremism centers on meaninglessness and a fixation on violence rather than a traditional ideological goal, often drawing from gore and attention in online spaces; it challenges policymakers because it lacks a clear narrative yet causes real-world harm.
Why Are Psychotic Disorders in Young People on the Rise?
Q: Is there a difference between men and women in the onset of these conditions, and how does that affect treatment and engagement with services?
Men tend to develop psychotic symptoms at a younger age and are more likely to be severely affected and harder to engage in healthcare, which influences both the timing of intervention and the design of outreach and support services.
Why Are Psychotic Disorders in Young People on the Rise?
Q: All right, your study measured the incidence of psychotic disorders across different groups in Ontario. When you stepped back and looked at the findings, what surprised you the most?
What surprised me most was not only that incidence is rising over time, but that the increase is most pronounced in the least certain category—psychosis not otherwise specified—indicating a broader diagnostic ambiguity and potential shifts in what clinicians are labeling as psychotic disorders.
What Does the Future Look Like for Cuba?
Q: How does progressive development differ from traditional aid in Cuba?
Progressive development prioritizes local needs and long-term capacity-building over extracting profits; in Cuba, this means investing in education, healthcare, and infrastructure in a way that strengthens local institutions and reduces dependency on external actors, rather than creating a top-down aid dynamic.
What Does the Future Look Like for Cuba?
Q: How could Canada use soft power to help Cubans right now?
Canada could leverage its long-standing diplomatic ties, educational and cultural exchanges, and people-to-people networks to provide constructive support, focusing on non-coercive assistance that respects Cuban sovereignty and avoids demonizing the regime, while highlighting humanitarian concerns.
