Absolutely brilliant!
This is a really original angle on post apocalyptic story telling and I love post apocalyptic stories!
Some of the character’s actions Mae no sense to me but that is one of the things that makes it interesting, if everyone does what seems logical and pragmatic there probably wouldn’t be much of a story!
Got obsessed with this show last summer. It’s so rare that you get anything more than a lady sidekick in fictional apocalypse-worlds (Fury Road notwithstanding) and something I adore about this show is how HUMAN it feels. Sure, many of the leads are badass and could kick your ass at 50 paces, but ultimately, they feel like real people surviving a cataclysmic event. It’s a really refreshing change from the heightened drama and unrealistic characters of Hollywood - it’s about as close to “slice-of... more
Started out good but quickly went down the tube. I was hoping for an apocalypse type audio drama. It started out that way but turned into constant virtue signaling. Literally 90% virtue signaling liberal agenda pushing, cis gender hating fantasy scenarios. All of the straight characters are made out to be bad and all of the gays & (yes you’re reading this right) Hooker’s are made out to be super great. The main character regularly goes off in tangents about how sex workers are real workers and s... more
The world needs more post apocalyptic fiction like this: Lots of organized groups of survivors helping each other, and a genuinely caring attitude between characters. Very much a refreshing antithesis of media like The Walking Dead. Great queer representation, and engaging characters. The acting is solid, witty, and feels very genuine. Just FANTASTIC.
Just listened to the first episode and I can’t wait to listen to the rest!!!
I am absolutely adoring this podcast. I've raced through 17 episodes in two days and I am already excited for the next one. This ragtag group of amazing, complex characters strike a perfect balance between fast-moving story and emotive character development. Plus, the main character Jo is a fantastic, anxious, bi disaster. I love her.
I have been binging this lately! I've always loved post-apocalyptic stories, but most of them are a bit TOO dark for my mood this winter, this one is actually PERFECT. a NOT-human-caused disaster, real, relatable characters and situations, and various ways to survive without everyone just going off the deep end. LOVE this! Also, hurray for a bi girl in the starring role! :D
I love this show!! It is fabulous, funny, and just the right amount suspenseful. I would HIGHLY recommend to everyone!
If you're looking for a mostly lighthearted and humorous look at the post-apocalypse then this it with a bullet
Great drama podcast! The radio show is done well & we learn about the character from herself through her own reflections of herself & her telling of her interactions with others.
A sometimes funny, sometimes scary, always interesting take on the post apocalypse. Each episode pulls you further in. Am hooked
This podcast features a former radio show host doing her best to survive after Yellowstone erupts (something a bit different from the trend of zombies or war or pandemic). I love the humor and the "realistic" depiction of women in the apocalypse. I also like the different perspective, as it seems there's a lot of male-perspective apocalyptic podcasts.
This is a very fun podcast to listen to! I don't see too many stories about the apocalypse that aren't about nukes or zombies, so the aftermath of a natural disaster that wasn't caused by humans is fascinating to think about. I also really like the storytelling and humor.
[[spoilers]] I really want to hear more of the Artist/poem-reader. I'd love to see one of Jo's crushes actually ... work out. I also hope more than anything that JeeHyun's wife is okay.
After catching up with the latest episode all in one day, I can say The After Disaster Broadcast in an instant favorite. It took me less than two episodes to be completely hooked, and not only because Jo is a highly relatable disaster bi - living the apocalypse through her intense and passionate descriptions is enthralling. And being a fan of voice acting in general, let me tell you J.J. does an amazing work with the mood, and even though I have English as second language, it’s so easy to unders... more
