The dollmaker made me tear up. Thank you for the queer representation. Lose yourself in the world of this podcast and its mesmerizing
I love this podcast. It is a series of conversations between Mal and a different spirit, who is yet to pass on, each episode. I look forward to each persons story - they are really well written, performed and recorded - and I also feel like I have learned a little more about the experiences of those that have lived in New York throughout the centuries without even noticing it. I sincerely hope they make some more.
I knew by the creators that this was going to be good, but wow. Blown away by the quality of this audiodrama. Every episode features a different ghost interviewed by the protagonist, and each is a unique, captivating character representing a specific subculture and time period in NYC. There's clearly a lot of research that goes into the show, they do a great job of making the characters feel truly authentic to their time. The concept is simple but it's so much more than the sum of its parts. Hig... more
I had mixed emotions about this one. It is well done, and the voice acting is really good. It's cozy and a little sad, and the stories are kind of bland, like real life. But after the first dozen episodes, I was left feeling like I would be getting more out of it if I were listening to the life stories of real people instead of fiction. The more I thought about that, the less I enjoyed the podcast. I would still recommend it, it just wasn't for me.
I’ve had a bit of a dry spell with good new audio drama and this is exactly what I’ve been needing. The ghosts in each episode have such interesting stories and great character development. I also love the way that the overarching plot is slowly revealing itself and how we’re slowly but surely getting to know Mal. Fantastic work.
