  • My fave!!

I consider myself a bit of a podcast junky. I love all kinds of podcasts. I don’t recall how I stumbled across this one, but it is my absolute favorite! The quality of the content, the sound quality, the wonderful story telling, the interview excerpts, the great music in just the right spots with just the right volume, the duration. You all have nailed it. I only wish I had found you before you started fresh again.

    Well done!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The One and the Ninety-Nine
Q: Could you describe the solid self versus the pseudo self, and why that distinction matters inside organizations?
The solid self is a rooted, conviction-based identity that can adapt deliberately over time, while the pseudo self shifts in real-time to fit a room or group. Cultivating the solid self helps individuals resist the pull to merely mirror others, enabling authentic contributions and healthier, more productive communities.
How To Try Again
Q: What do we do after a failure to move forward constructively?
We acknowledge the failure, pause to reassess the path, accept the reality of the situation, make purposeful changes, and then try again with a clearer plan and measurable experiments to see what actually works for us.
How To Try Again
Q: Could you walk us through the PACT framework and tell us why this is so effective?
PAUSE helps prevent immediate, often unproductive reattempts; ACCEPT acknowledges real constraints and responsibilities; CHANGE involves making concrete adjustments based on what's learned; and TRY commits to a structured experiment for a set period to test new approaches and gather feedback.
The Success Wound
Q: What is the difference between manic ambition and aligned ambition, and how can someone pursue the healthier form?
Manic ambition is a frenzied drive to succeed fueled by inadequacy, leading to burnout and a lack of sustainable progress, while aligned ambition is powered by the true self—creative, present, and oriented toward contribution rather than accumulation. The healthier path involves recognizing what powers ambition and choosing to operate from aligned ambition whenever possible.
The Success Wound
Q: Tell us about the success wound. What is the success wound?
The success wound is the pain that comes from mistaking success, productivity, and achievement for self-worth, a belief that worthiness of love and belonging hinges on what we produce rather than who we are.
