Of all the diabetes accounts I follow, this is my favorite. Both women keep it real, offer great support and resources, and have wonderful advice. My child was young like Amanda’s when diagnosed. I appreciate all her insights and that she shared the hard. I also appreciate Raquel’s insights as an adult that was diagnosed as a child. I follow them on IG at @typeonetogether. They have such a supportive community. Also, their babysitter list is fantastic for parents with young t1ds.
Love love love this show. Raquel and Amanda over questions I wouldn’t have even thought I need to know about and then that same circumstance shows up in my life. The information I’ve received through these two since diagnosis just 3 months ago has prepared me in a way that the doctors office definitely did not for parenting a T1 child. So grateful for these two and type one together.
I absolutely love listening to Racquel and Amanda discuss different topics and their experiences managing type one diabetes. It is so refreshing to hear their take on management, new devices, tips and tricks, and so much more— I listen to the Juicebox podcast and now this podcast religiously as they are both keeping me going and better informed in the day/night/24/7 management of my type one child!! they also have some great resources on their website (grandparent course, t1d babysitters). I have to say, I’m really enjoying your podcasts. I started listening a couple months ago. The current episode with Andrew was great. I am a type 1 since Summer of 1970. I’m struck by the difference in parent involvement/stress. When I was diagnosed, I remember coming home from a buddies house. I’d been to the doctor the day before for bloodwork after a I lost 15 pounds, peeing overnight. I knocked on her door to let her know I was home. I got a muffled (crying) response that my dad was on t... more
This is exactly what I needed back in 1999 when my ten month old son was diagnosed with type 1. The work these ladies are doing will be life changing for new type 1 parents who are feeling the fear, guilt, and insecurity so many parents experience. I recommend this podcast and all Type 1 Together content for any parent of a type 1! more
