  • Great Podcast

This is really a great podcast that I happened to stumble upon only recently .The host has explored a variety of topics on tennis including speaking to some people who knew the certain players well which gives a very rare insight. I am busy listening to some of the older episodes which are very interesting.

Saqib always a tremendous host, definitely a guy you want to hang out with a talk tennis with while consuming a beer. His personality is so kind and infectious. Mert Ertunga and Saqib always engage in some incredible tennis banter, and insight appreciated by not only the casual fan but also the deep dive enthusiast. I would love to see these guys on the National Broadcast stage someday. They are so outside the typical norm and box and they bring such tremendous tennis banter. Well done !!!!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Best ATP players who fell short at RG!
Q: What criteria did you use to select players who were great but didn't win Roland Garros?
We focused on players who were among the era-defining greats, whose careers included multiple major or slam-level successes on other surfaces but who never secured a Roland Garros title, often due to timing,(surface) preferences, or the strength of rivals during peak years.
Monte Carlo diary of a player - Mark Woodforde
Q: What does a money tournament mean to a common fan, and how did these events compare to tours in other regions?
Money tournaments in Europe, particularly France, were local club-organized events with modest purses and tiered draws; players would compete in main draws or back draws and often travel between these events to gain match experience and earn some money, using the circuit as a practical ladder before or between larger satellite events.
Monte Carlo diary of a fan
Q: What was the biggest difference between watching matches live versus on TV?
Live, you can see the players' footwork, speed, and how they move across the court in real time, which reveals details like how quickly they recover and how their movements frame the rally, something TV often smooths over.
Sabalenka defends her US Open title
Q: Which player out of Goff, Osaka, and Anisimova will rise highest in 2026?
Coco Goff will likely be the biggest challenger, given her current standing.
Sabalenka defends her US Open title
Q: Would best of five suit Sabalenka?
It would impact her positively because she's in great shape.
