  • Great guests , painful interviewing

I unsubscribed from this as I got frustrated with the hosts constantly talking over the guests but thought I’d give it a second chance given the quality of those guests.

Unfortunately the host hasn’t learnt anything since the last time I listened as he continues to talk over guests with a constant stream of interruptions and unnecessary “yeah yeahs”.

I don’t know if it’s a nervous thing or a desire to hear his own voice but either way it’s really jarring and unprofessional.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Inside SXM Festival: Elderbrook on DJ vs Live Sets, SXM Festival, Songwriting Process & Life as a Global Electronic Artist
Q: Do you have a dream collaboration you'd love to pursue?
I'd love to work with Jamie xx and The xx, as their work has been a major influence and could inspire a powerful collaboration with my own sound.
Inside SXM Festival: Elderbrook on DJ vs Live Sets, SXM Festival, Songwriting Process & Life as a Global Electronic Artist
Q: What was one of the craziest places you've played?
I've done some wild gigs, like performing on a moving cherry picker during a festival, which was not very safe but definitely memorable and highlighted by the unpredictable nature of festival environments.
Inside SXM Festival: Elderbrook on DJ vs Live Sets, SXM Festival, Songwriting Process & Life as a Global Electronic Artist
Q: What would be your top festival tip to people?
Wear sunscreen and protect yourself because the sun can be harsh on a mountaintop venue, which helps you look and feel good for your set.
Inside SXM Festival: Elderbrook on DJ vs Live Sets, SXM Festival, Songwriting Process & Life as a Global Electronic Artist
Q: How do you match and balance those identities when you're performing as both a DJ and a singer?
It's tough and context-dependent; I usually perform two shows—one full live set and one DJ set—so I prepare differently for each, staying flexible but prioritizing the song and keeping ideas quick to avoid overthinking.
Inside SXM Festival: Sistek’s Journey From Chile to Tomorrowland — Latin Electronic Music, SXM Festival & Building a Global DJ Sound
Q: All right, cool. What would you say would you like your favorite audiences to play or favorite country to play? and how does that compare to Chile?
He says Chile has an incredibly energetic audience and that Latin crowds bring high energy and dance, but that audiences in Europe or other regions can vary in energy; the key is reading the crowd and adapting, with Latin communities abroad helping to ignite the mood.
