Politics and Religion. We’re not supposed to talk about that, right? Wrong! We only say that nowadays because the loudest, most extreme voices have taken over the whole conversation. Well, we‘re taking some of that space back! If you’re dying for some dialogue instead of all the yelling; if you know it’s okay to have differences without having to hate each other; if you believe politics and religi... more

  • Great insights, great guests, ideas you can use!

I am always entertained, fascinated and taught when I listen to Corey and his guests. Used to be a 'compassionate conservative' and in most ways I still am. As a Gold Star dad and faithful Christian, I truly want what is best of all people - not just 'my team.' I try to live that out and my time with Corey helps me consider how to best engage those around me without getting into the P&R stuff before it is safe to do so. Thanks Corey. Would love to meet and talk sometime.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

A WEAVE Conversation | Jaime Encinas on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Breaking Cycles, and Wheeling to Healing
Q: How can people across political and religious divides have better conversations?
By seeing and hearing each other, creating safe spaces, and starting with small, relational steps like sharing meals or having open conversations, rather than assuming motives or labeling others; the goal is to build trust and practice presence in daily interactions.
A WEAVE Conversation | Jaime Encinas on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Breaking Cycles, and Wheeling to Healing
Q: What are adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and why are they central to your work?
ACEs are traumatic experiences before age 18, such as domestic violence and addiction, which shape coping mechanisms and life trajectories. The point of ACEs work is to shift the focus from diagnosing the person to understanding what happened to them, which opens pathways for healing and breaking cycles of violence.
The Exhausted Majority: Jason Mangone of More in Common on Hidden Tribes, the Perception Gap, and What's Actually Pulling Us Apart
Q: What do you think each of us can do to be able to share space with, have better conversations with, and perhaps even nurture relationships with people across their differences?
Live in person, engage in shared community activities, and foster spaces where neighbors interact outside of online silos—like church, volunteering, and inviting people over for meals—because in-person contact builds the social fabric necessary for better dialogue across differences.
A WEAVE Conversation | Relationships Before Results: Rajiv Mehta on Camaraderie and Self-Knowledge
Q: How does the guest suggest we handle conversations across deep political and religious differences?
Start with recognizing shared humanity and commonalities before probing harder questions, cultivate respect, and create spaces for ongoing dialogue rather than attempting to win arguments; emphasize relationship-building as a prerequisite to substantive policy discussions.
David M. Drucker of The Dispatch on the MAGA Coalition, the Media, and What Twitter Gets Wrong
Q: During this conversation, do you think the MAGA coalition is likely to endure or evolve, and what factors will influence that trajectory?
Drucker discusses the consolidation of media, think tanks, and political actors around Trump, the role of hawkish vs. populist factions, and how the coalition adapts to leadership changes and policy directions.
