TFTS #276 ”An Unlikely Cocktail: Alabama, Alcohol, and Momma" by Dawne Shand
TFTS #54 Encore: Tin Roof Project with Vic Fleming, April 4th, 2016
Heard Mr. JW, very much loved the funny story he told. I think I've heard of another story that lead me to this podcast and finally decided to get subscribed. Looking forward listening to more engaging stories of the like.
I wanted to like this podcast but it's obvious that these storytellers are reading. By doing so they rob their material of crucial spontaneity. If they mixed it up a bit the content would be more engaging to me.
It's a nice idea ala The Moth, but from Southerners perspectives. The stories are often interesting and the writing engaging. However, the readers are horrible. I liken it to listening to elementary school kids reading their "What I did last Summer" essays up in front of the class. Same goes for the emcees. Everyone needs to bring it up several notches or have professionals do the readings and introductions. Right now, it's like the worlds worst open mic.
I really enjoy keeping up with the stories that are told and talent that goes into the stories.
Some stories could be a little cleaner but on the whole and very quality storytelling project.
I have listened to every podcast for the last nine months. I really enjoy them and look forward to the next ones as they comes out.
