  • Terrible editing

Content is very good, guests are very good, but the podcasts is unlistenable. The ads will interrupt mid sentence and play at 200% volume. Problem has been ongoing for months now but I guess nobody cares

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Will tax incentives boost home building in Canada?
Q: Do the Ontario tax breaks signal broader rollouts across Canada, and what else is needed beyond tax incentives?
The Ontario incentives are a positive signal, but longer‑term impact will require nationwide policy alignment, faster signing of deals in other provinces, and addressing non‑tax factors like development charges, housing supply, and access to skilled labor.
Will tax incentives boost home building in Canada?
Q: What does 2026 look like for home builders given today's policy landscape?
Builders expect continued weakness in ownership housing with potential upside if tax incentives and provincial deals demonstrate stronger, more wide‑scale deployment, but they also emphasize that many other reforms—such as development charges and mortgage stress tests—must move in tandem to spark real growth.
The disconnect between young people and employers
Q: So what does it tell us about the road ahead?
David Wolf explains that higher-than-typical yields imply inflation and risk are still with us, but earnings strength and AI-related growth are supporting equities for now, with a conditional view on future rate moves.
Amanda Lang speaks with Patty Hadju, Minister of Jobs and Families
Q: What is the importance of having the defense bank in Canada?
It signals leadership in defense financing, builds trust in Canada's financial system, and is expected to catalyze global coordination and private sector activity, though the bank will take years to set up before broad benefits materialize.
Canada’s trade impact program, one year later
Q: Have you seen uptake on existing programs before TIP, and did the TIP announcement act as a wake-up call?
Alison explains that TIP built on a long history of trade diversification and suggests that awareness and uptake of related programs increased as the new, targeted support for hard-hit sectors became clearer.
