  • Educational and impartial

I work in the food industry, and although this show is largely focused on the UK, they bring up a range of interesting topics. They are largely focused on sustainability and new food trends, and bring in new people to talk about it.

Also, they do not seem quite as biased, as many other podcasts within the field are. This podcast mainly has intellectuals and people with an extensive experience within the relevant field.

    Excited for new releases!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

603: Mastering the marvel of mouthfeel
Q: What role do social media and digital listening play in shaping mouthful trends and how do younger consumers describe mouthfeel differently?
Social media accelerates trend evolution and provides real-time, authentic consumer language; younger generations use visual and multi-sensory descriptors and seek novelty, which influences how brands frame mouthfeel experiences and develop products.
603: Mastering the marvel of mouthfeel
Q: Can you talk us through the mayonnaise study and what surprised you most about the gap between what consumers said they wanted and what the sensory data showed?
The study revealed that consumer language about mouthfeel is unreliable and often misleads product developers; people describe desires in vague terms like 'not too thick' while data shows that thicker, smoother textures tend to be preferred in reduced-fat mayonnaise, highlighting the need to translate consumer words into measurable sensory targets.
598: GLP-1: What happens after the drugs?
Q: What front of pack labeling regarding GLP-1 is emerging?
Currently, in Europe, there are no claims approved for GLP-1 on packaging, but consumer education is essential for acceptance.
598: GLP-1: What happens after the drugs?
Q: Do you think the benefits of the medication outweigh the negatives, especially for those who are not classified as obese?
It depends on the individual; GLP-1 has shown significant heart health benefits, but caution is necessary, especially in terms of long-term risks and associated side effects.
598: GLP-1: What happens after the drugs?
Q: What are the benefits of new medications potentially helping with muscle mass loss?
New medications aim to curtail side effects like muscle mass loss while still addressing user needs for effective weight management, ultimately promising a better long-term strategy for consumers.
