  • Educational and impartial

I work in the food industry, and although this show is largely focused on the UK, they bring up a range of interesting topics. They are largely focused on sustainability and new food trends, and bring in new people to talk about it.

Also, they do not seem quite as biased, as many other podcasts within the field are. This podcast mainly has intellectuals and people with an extensive experience within the relevant field.

    Excited for new releases!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

611: GLP-1: The science, the data, the long-term picture
Q: Do early GLP-1 drugs include GIP, or are they pure GLP-1?
The earliest drugs were pure GLP-1; newer generations combine GLP-1 with GIP to enhance efficacy and reduce side effects like nausea.
611: GLP-1: The science, the data, the long-term picture
Q: Where does this go from here, and is there a role for food and nutrition in managing GLP-1 pathways naturally?
The discussion suggests a continuum where food and nutrition can complement pharmacology by supporting metabolic harmony through high-protein, high-fiber, and satiety-focused products, while acknowledging that lifelong management may require coaching, personalized nutrition, and new modalities.
609: Reformulation doesn't have to mean compromise - but it does mean asking the right questions
Q: What role do HFSS and labeling play in reformulation?
They drive formulation improvements, but with careful product development, cookies, nutrition bars, and snacks can meet HFSS standards without compromising taste or price, sometimes offering longer shelf life and sustainability advantages.
609: Reformulation doesn't have to mean compromise - but it does mean asking the right questions
Q: How can butter be replaced without sacrificing quality?
Butter replacers can mimic butter's melting behavior and texture, lower saturated fat and CO2 footprint, and in many cases replace butter 100% in formulations, while remaining cost-competitive and maintaining taste.
609: Reformulation doesn't have to mean compromise - but it does mean asking the right questions
Q: What does 'less is more' mean for manufacturers today?
It means applying a structured, category-specific approach to reduce sugar, fat, and emissions while protecting taste, shelf life, and cost. Different products require different treatments, and collaboration with customers helps identify the right areas to optimize.
