Clearly an indictment of our recent lack of success are the utterly over the top plaudits for Jacob Bethell. His current record is 6 first innings in tests for 55 runs and 5 of those at number 3 for 49 runs!!! Yet he’s being compared to Gower, Thorpe and even Lara! It always surprises me with the amnesia that occurs amongst so-called experts!! On Cummins’ injury: “neutrals want to see the best versus the best”! Who exactly are the neutrals in an Ashes series? Do we not remember McGrath’s injury in 2005 was arguably the most important factor to England regaining the Ashes!
