A fabulous piece on Chris Woakes! An understated, underrated and world class bowler especially at home! Plus a good number of match winning batting performances! “The story of English cricket, over the last ten years, would have been much bleaker without him” as said by Ben Gardner is a fitting tribute for him!
Love the pod but I did need to have a lie down after Mark Butcher declared that Simon Jones was great at “reverse swang”. Stick to real words and these boys will go far
I find it surprising that the latest India test series is seen as only comparable to the Ashes series of 2005 (it wasn’t) or the Ashes series of 2023 (it arguably was). But what about the 2009 Ashes? Jimmy and Monty playing out the draw at Cardiff. Freddie’s spell on Day 5 at Lord’s. Broad’s spell at The Oval, Trott’s debut 100, Freddie running out Ponting. As importantly England regaining the Ashes! It sometimes feels like a forgotten series that should not be!

Just listening to the podcast after the draw at Old Trafford. Some strange comments suggesting you’d have to be a one-eyed nationalist not to have wanted India to lose. Really? Is there any reason why England supporters shouldn’t want England to win any game against one of the top teams in the world? Come on, guys — this wasn’t an exhibition match.
