I find it surprising that the latest India test series is seen as only comparable to the Ashes series of 2005 (it wasn’t) or the Ashes series of 2023 (it arguably was). But what about the 2009 Ashes? Jimmy and Monty playing out the draw at Cardiff. Freddie’s spell on Day 5 at Lord’s. Broad’s spell at The Oval, Trott’s debut 100, Freddie running out Ponting. As importantly England regaining the Ashes! It sometimes feels like a forgotten series that should not be!

Just listening to the podcast after the draw at Old Trafford. Some strange comments suggesting you’d have to be a one-eyed nationalist not to have wanted India to lose. Really? Is there any reason why England supporters shouldn’t want England to win any game against one of the top teams in the world? Come on, guys — this wasn’t an exhibition match.
I love this podcast. Cricket is such an interesting and layered sport. I like this podcast because it’s appealing to new and old fans. Thank you Wisden!
Do the ECB / ICC intend to compensate people who have spent £150+ on a ticket, for the 15 overs or 20% reduction in match time we have just witnessed in the Test Match at Lord's! There is no other sport other than maybe golf, where the players dictate the in play time of an event. People wonder why test cricket or indeed cricket is losing it's appeal!? I have never known a more dishonest sport than this! Bazball can do or say what it likes, but the players, on all sides to be clear, are short ch... more
