  • Charging “from coast to coast”

Your guest from Suncor mentioned that her company had installed electric chargers along the highway “from coast to coast”, with a maximum charge of 250W. Is she referring to the TESLA Supercharger Network that TESLA installed along the Trans Canada Highway? Those chargers are 250W. In reality, there are no other installed chargers along that highway (or any other highway, besides more Tesla Superchargers). Tesla has been building up their global charging infrastructure for the past 9 years. As a... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Beyond the Bin: Making Reuse the Default in Food Packaging
Q: What drives change in North America's food packaging market, and how do regulatory, consumer, and supply-chain factors interact to push brands toward reuse?
Drivers include regulatory tailwinds like bans and EPR schemes, strong consumer demand for sustainable practices, and appetite from operators to reduce waste and cut costs; disruptions in supply chains and cost fluctuations further incentivize switching to reusable systems.
Beyond the Bin: Making Reuse the Default in Food Packaging
Q: Can you help us understand the sustainability challenges and opportunities in the huge packaging market, and what makes reuse a viable path forward?
Packaging is ubiquitous and the current linear, single-use model creates enormous waste, but the opportunity lies in shifting to a centralized, data-driven reuse system that can scale regionally with modular hubs and a strong software backbone, making reuse economically viable and attractive for large operators.
Below the Surface: Brightcore Energy's Mike Richter on Geothermal Energy's Advantages
Q: What are some of the barriers to implementing geothermal technology in urban settings?
Mike identifies upfront costs and the need for large bore fields as key barriers, but mentions recent policy changes that have made geothermal more accessible and economical.
Below the Surface: Brightcore Energy's Mike Richter on Geothermal Energy's Advantages
Q: Can you tell us about how did you go from professional hockey to a president of a clean energy company?
Richter speaks about his transition being non-traditional, driven by a passion for technology, energy, and the environment, leading him to pursue further education and embrace the clean energy sector.
Using AI to Reduce Flood Risk: IBM and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
Q: What are the next steps for the project?
We are confident in producing continuous forecasts and supporting the US. National Park Service with our software application called FloodView.
