These hosts are so erudite, so in love with the subject matter, and so enthusiastic - a rare jewel of a podcast.
Been listening the podcast for years and years, realized I never left a review before. I’ve got favorite episodes I go back to, and I’m always so excited for a new one. I used to be a pre-christian irish reconstructionist pagan, and I’m no longer practicing that, but I am still just a fan of the podcast. Came for the lore, stayed for the two lovely lovely hosts. 💖
They cover Irish folklore in depth. Really fascinating, particularly the language and theme examinations. Try it!
As a Boston-Irish person, I found their stories and explanations of pre-Norman/English Ireland revolutionary. And, turns out that very early Irish culture wasn’t so different from the indigenous Massachusett peoples. And the stories!! Glad to see how deeply strands of our culture - humor, worldview, senses of loyalty and righteousness (coir!) - reach into our distant past. I binged the entire series over the last two months.
I majored in Irish Lit in college and twenty years later this makes my nerdy story-loving heart happy. Along with Blúiríní Béaloidis it’s my favorite. Love the stories and the hosts.
