  • Fabulous information and advice

Well what can I say. I’ve just tuned in to a podcast, I have been meaning to do this since our son started at Bridgeway. Such a lovely informative listen and even though our son already at the S.E.N school I learnt something new.

Looking forward to going through the list of podcast from yourselves. Highly recommend and thank you

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Supporting Children With AuDHD
Q: What strategies or resources would you recommend for parents on managing the whole family needs at home with ODHD?
Annie describes creating an inclusive family culture, using practical tools like diary sheets to track daily triggers and responses, and emphasizing clear, simple communication to help every family member feel seen and supported. She also highlights the importance of visual supports and emotional well-being grids to map out what helps each person on different days, ensuring a calm, predictable environment.
EHCPs, Diagnosis & School Relationships
Q: What would you say are the benefits of a diagnosis and an EHCP?
Diagnosis confirms you're on a different journey and helps you plan with a toolbox approach; the EHCP then translates that into concrete supports and access to targeted services, though it's not a magic wand and doesn't solve everything.
Neurodiversity, Early Years & Child Development
Q: What role do parents play in supporting development at home?
Parents can integrate movement-heavy activities, reduce passive screen time, and provide a predictable routine to help the child build self-regulation and core skills.
Neurodiversity, Early Years & Child Development
Q: How do you differentiate a meltdown from a tantrum in a three-year-old?
Meltdowns tend to be exhaustion-driven and not easily resolved by changing the situation, whereas tantrums are more often goal-directed or triggered by immediate needs; looking for triggers and environmental factors is key.
Neurodiversity, Early Years & Child Development
Q: What might you see as indicators of neurodiversity in the early years?
Indicators can appear as rapid changes in development, sensory sensitivities, and delays in speech or self-regulation; observing the environment and child responses helps identify which indicators may require early intervention.
