  • Excellent episode

I really enjoyed Episode 56 but I would like the entire resource that was discussed. I only see the Feelings Wheel without explanation of how to use it. I’d also like to see the Heart Journal he uses please.

  • Great resource

I’m enjoying this podcast and the dialogue on engaging Biblically a wide spectrum of issues ranging from discipleship to specific mental health problems, to interviews with leading thinkers and writers in the Biblical counseling field. Very helpful for anyone, licensed or not, who is curious about, interested in, or passionate about Biblical counseling.

  • Best I Have Heard

As a secular trained Christian counselor I was excited to find this podcast but have been disappointed with the content. I found this podcast on EMDR to be what I have expected from this podcast, evaluating a therapeutic approach from a Christian perspective with someone who has trained and has used EMDR. The show moved into the content without the usual bickering of the co-hosts (which I find to be inappropriate for Christian counselors). I hope that future programs will present similar rele... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

EP. 210 Mental Health and the Church Mini-Series: Pastoring, Counseling, and Mental Health W/Pastor Kevin Carson
Q: So how should the church respond to mental health in a local and universal sense?
The church should respond with patient, long-term pastoral care, recognizing suffering and guiding people toward Scripture and Christ, rather than aiming for quick fixes; care should happen across all levels (life groups, one-on-one, and formal counseling) and focus on walking with people over time.
EP. 209 Singing as Soul Care: Using Music as a Spiritual Discipline in Biblical Counseling - W/Worship Leader and BC Adam Westlake
Q: What's all this about?
Adam explains his background as a worship leader and biblical counselor and discusses how music and singing have been integrated into his ministry and counseling approach, arguing that singing can be a meaningful spiritual discipline.
EP. 201 Bonus Episode: Called to Counsel Conference 2026 - Fundamentals of Biblical Counseling Track Invitation W/Emily Dempster
Q: Emily, could you just kind of run through the sessions, who the speaker is, and just maybe a quick brief thought on each of those sessions and maybe how they build off each other?
Emily outlines a progression from theology of care to starting well, story work, heart dynamics, the character of God in counseling, and ending well, with a panel applying the methods to a case study.
EP. 203 Breaking Free from Codependency: A Biblical Perspective on Burdens, Boundaries, and Trusting God W/Counseling & Soul Care Director Chris Minott
Q: Could you just start walking through the origin of codependency and then defining it biblically in relation to culture?
The origin tied to the late 1970s involved one person in a relationship facing addiction and the other trying to manage the chaos, leading to ongoing rescue and identity found in the codependent. Biblically, it's relational idolatry where people depend on others for love and acceptance instead of trusting God.
EP. 199 Bonus Episode Called to Counsel Conference 2026 - Mental Health Track Invitation W/Track Leader Jeremy Lelek
Q: Who should come to this track and why is it valuable for both licensed professionals and lay leaders?
Licensed professionals will gain in-depth, scripture-driven analysis beyond surface-level references, while pastors and lay counselors will receive a solid theological framework to engage with psychiatric labels in a compassionate, biblically informed way.
