  • Please stick to (Australian) Labour Politics…

I’m very dissapointed with Episode 343: Feeney Files with Jessie McCrone.  In an approx 10 minute rant starting at the approx 50 minute mark David Feeney says among other things “have bleached for international law of all of its meaning and power by talking about a fake genocide claim in Gaza, by talking about a fake famine in Gaza” and “let's not forget that all of those who manufactured these absurd and oversized claims against Israel can themselves take a small bow for having killed it” and “... more

  • Pro-Israel drivel

Nothing progressive or “socially democratic” about these morally-bankrupt, milquetoast careerists defending Israeli genocide and looking for a safe Labor seat to be parchuted into.

  • Lissie Ratcliff chat

Thanks for the great chat with Lissie and for her preparedness to give us a look behind the curtain which was illuminating.

Also a belated thanks for her (& others) work during an extremely difficult period.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 346: How to Talk About a Global Crisis & Other Mailbag Questions with Todd Pinkerton and Lissie Ratcliff | Australia’s Labor Podcast
Q: What reforms could Labor push to address energy and manufacturing sovereignty?
Policies aimed at boosting domestic energy resilience, manufacturing capability, and reforming capital taxation while closing loopholes could be pursued, especially when public urgency is high and political appetite is favorable.
Ep. 346: How to Talk About a Global Crisis & Other Mailbag Questions with Todd Pinkerton and Lissie Ratcliff | Australia’s Labor Podcast
Q: Are there reforms Labor could push through now more easily than in normal times?
Two clear opportunities: push structural reforms given reduced media clutter and pressure, and seize the moment to advance tax reforms and windfall profits taxation that align with long-term economic sovereignty.
Ep. 346: How to Talk About a Global Crisis & Other Mailbag Questions with Todd Pinkerton and Lissie Ratcliff | Australia’s Labor Podcast
Q: What do we make of Tory leader Angus the Rhodes Scholar coming out and saying that the government ought to be considering supporting the United States in providing Royal Australian Navy ships to assist in the Strait of Hormuz?
This seems like pandering to hardline foreign policy postures and may inflame voters who are wary of entangling Australia in global military commitments; a more grounded approach would focus on domestic energy security and sovereignty.
Ep. 340: Social Cohesion, Working Conditions, and Other Mailbag Questions with Todd Pinkerton and Lissie Ratcliff | Australia’s Labor Podcast
Q: Paul (different) asked about the UK's social cohesion concerns and how Australian policy should respond to global debates about foreign influences in domestic politics.
The hosts push back on static foreign policy framing, emphasizing evolving civic institutions, shared values, and the need for government storytelling that binds diverse communities rather than sharpening cultural divides.
Ep. 340: Social Cohesion, Working Conditions, and Other Mailbag Questions with Todd Pinkerton and Lissie Ratcliff | Australia’s Labor Podcast
Q: CB Paul asked about the ACTU campaign for five weeks of annual leave and its realism.
The panel agrees the idea has legs as a tangible policy with broad appeal, especially if framed around productivity gains and worker well-being, and notes political risk if proposed by the Liberals.
