This seems nice BUT don't say "ADHD SYMPTOMS" and every OTHER child because adhd isn't a disease to get over. Hyperactivity doesn't DEFINE somebody

  • Two words: Life Changing

In a world where doctor’s orders reign and their only help is labeling with a diagnosis or medicating, it’s easy to feel hopeless. I discovered this podcast four months ago and signed up for the testing and diet program 3 months ago. Decreased hyperactivity and inflammation (that would’ve led to a tonsils surgery) and less ‘behavior’ from my 5 year old let me know we are on the right path…the only path to health and recovery really! BEYOND GRATEFUL for Dana Kay.

  • Eye opening

I found Dana Kay’s Facebook page and later podcast. This has been a very eye opening experience as I’ve struggled with my son that has ADHD. I’m still learning - we have eliminated some foods that cause inflammation and I’ve seen positive changes in my son.

207: ADHD Picky Eating Solutions with Andrea Daigle
Q: Where should families begin if they're overwhelmed by picky eating and ADHD?
Begin by upgrading the foods they already eat rather than removing them, implement a neutral, low-pressure dining environment, and consider the 'add, don't subtract' approach to gradually introduce nutrients and textures while supporting the child's nervous system.
207: ADHD Picky Eating Solutions with Andrea Daigle
Q: Can you share one simple, actionable tip parents can start using today to expand their child's diet?
Start with one food your child already eats and find a way to upgrade it nutritionally—using methods like the cheese grater technique or adding a small amount of another nutrient to that food, then persist with small, manageable upgrades over a week or two to build confidence and reduce resistance.
207: ADHD Picky Eating Solutions with Andrea Daigle
Q: From what you've seen, is picky eating just behavior or could it be a nervous system issue or a gut signal?
Picky eating is rarely purely a behavior problem; it's usually a signal from the nervous system indicating it doesn't feel safe, often tied to gut health and texture/sensory processing. Addressing these root factors helps kids tolerate new foods and reduces overall stress in meals.
206: IEPs vs. 504 Plans for ADHD with Paula Yost
Q: What common mistakes do parents make in IEP/504 meetings and how can they avoid them?
Key mistakes include assuming everyone is on the same page, failing to bring documentation, and not having a clear list of goals; Paula recommends bringing written, concrete A, B, and C goals and using advocates to help navigate negotiations.
206: IEPs vs. 504 Plans for ADHD with Paula Yost
Q: What is the difference between an IEP and a 504, and how does a parent know which one is needed?
Paula explains that an IEP is a comprehensive, legal plan for students with disabilities that requires formal services, while a 504 focuses more on accommodations; many ADHD cases benefit from an IEP for its stronger protections and longer-term service coverage, though a 504 can be appropriate in certain behavioral or trauma-related contexts.
