So Sez Rick

Rick Hall

Rick’s stories take audiences on a journey, from his days as a boy growing up on the farm, to working as an improvisor at The Second City in Chicago, to being an actor in Los Angeles. But you can’t take the farm out of the boy. He still owns a farm back in central Illinois, so Rick's a storyteller who worries about the price of grain! All of his stories are true… well, mostly true. “Rick Hall’s st... more

My buddy Ty Fance is the guest storyteller on this episode. I always enjoy the way he weaves his stories. His story is about when he was young and would steal tomatoes from the neighbor's garden. When you get caught, it can be a pain in the butt, lit... more

When I was fourteen, my Baptist church youth group went to an event in St. Louis and on the bus ride home I learned to French kiss. I saw glimpse of heaven. It was a profound religious experience.

I remember when I first heard the story about the ghost in the MacMurray College Theater. I thought, what a bunch of baloney. But coming face to face with the ghost late one night made a believer out of me. Then, for an extra treat, after my story we... more

When I went back to Chicago to do a play I thought it would be a walk down memory lane. It turns out the most memorable moment happened in the park on my walk to the theater one day.

Moving from the farm to Chicago to become an actor was culture shock but living in Little Italy is where I found my people.

  • Love Rick's Show! Love Rick's Stories!

This is the best podcast to ever teach me about pig farming. Okay, it’s the ONLY podcast to ever teach me about pig farming. But I digress.

Rick’s stories are wonderful. You’ll learn a little, you’ll laugh, you’ll smile at the charming banter between Rick and his wife Laura. Most of all, you’ll be reminded at the beauty and simplicity of a well-told tale. Highly recommended.

  • RICK is Righteous.

There is such an easy way that Rick Hall tells a story. It's like when a friend sits at the table and responds to "What's Up?" And the result is a wonderful tale. No message, no meaning, no agenda, just what was ordered. An anecdote for this click bait memey world. There is a saying about making something look easy.... it'll come to me right after I listen to this next episode.

Home-spun humor at it’s finest! Tales of the light side of country living and a country boy in the big city. You can take the boy out of the farm... The Heartland may not have a brain but it does have a funny bone!

  • Outrageous Fun

I was lucky enough to have grown up in the same small farming community in west-central Illinois as Rick. He’s been hilarious his entire life! I’ve watched his career from afar with great admiration. His podcast series is an absolute delight. I’m so happy I can now hear Rick entertain me once again, 45-ish years later! Listen at your own pleasure!!
