Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Building What’s Missing: Startups, Resilience & Following the Problem with Melissa Wood
Q: Can you tell us how Curate came about and what it serves, and why you decided to test this as an independent project while running Formis?
Curate grew from a real pain point I experienced at major conferences: the chaos of curating my own schedule. I prototyped a solution in a few hours, shared it on LinkedIn, and it went viral, showing there was demand. Rather than force a full pivot, I treated Curate as a side project to test the concept, validate the market with the Austin community, and iterate with input from the local ecosystem before expanding.
Beyond Medicine: Women's Health, Equity, and Leadership with Dr. Farah Shroff
Q: What do you believe needs to be unlearned for women stepping into visible leadership roles?
She emphasizes removing the inner voice of not being good enough, adopting empowering self-talk, cultivating assertive body language and clear accountability, and building a supportive network of mentors to sustain leadership without isolation.
Beyond Medicine: Women's Health, Equity, and Leadership with Dr. Farah Shroff
Q: How do you marry the worlds of yoga/meditation with global public health, and how has that shifted your leadership?
She explains integrating soft and hard approaches to mental health and health policy, using yoga and meditation to cultivate self-awareness and compassion while pursuing systemic change through policy work and program design, thereby leading with both inner clarity and outward action.
Beyond Medicine: Women's Health, Equity, and Leadership with Dr. Farah Shroff
Q: Oh my goodness, walk us through your journey to how you got to where you are today.
Dr. Shroff describes a life shaped by family health crises, migration, and a commitment to women's health. She connects her mother's lupus journey and a family culture of service to her work founding Health Together and Symptothermal Method, blending public health with natural health practices to empower women worldwide.
AI, Healthcare & Bringing Humanity Back to Medicine with Anna Sizova
Q: What advice do you have for people contemplating a big career leap, especially when they have responsibilities?
Start with baby steps, build a parallel path if possible, and set boundaries. It helps to balance risk with practical concerns like family and finances, and to stay curious and positive even when facing uncertainty.
