  • Fun

fun podcast and I enjoy the variety of guests. Reason I'm not giving a five is because I truly wish that the host would talk over her guests less

  • Let them talk!

The guests are great, and I love the idea of the podcast, but Jessie could let them talk more. It really bothers me that she seems to know everything and wants to tell their stories more than she lets them speak. Great to do some research before having them on, but unnecessary to say it all.

  • Fantastic podcast!

I love this podcast. It’s a great mix of professionals and self-taught bakers, and Jessie’s enthusiasm for each topic is infectious. She is fantastic at navigating the conversation between very technical information and candid conversations with the guests. It’s become one on of the pods I look forward to each week!

  • I didn’t come here for diet tips

Really disappointed with the last episode. I’m listening to a baking podcast because I like baking. Being told that I can eat “a little something sweet” but only if it’s “seasoned with sugar” like you’d season with salt and only a BITE OF A COOKIE???? I get that sugar isn’t the best for you. But I don’t appreciate the condescension around food on a BAKING PODCAST.

I love the details she includes with each recipe she has taught me so much over the years. My daughter just gave us a few banana muffins she made and they were so good yep she got the recipe off Sally’s website. Thks for such a great podcast

Almond Croissant Rugelach With Cookbook Author Leah Koenig
Q: What drew you to write a dessert-focused book within your body of Jewish cuisine work?

Almond Croissant Rugelach With Cookbook Author Leah Koenig
Q: How did you build your baking confidence and integrate desserts into your broader cooking and writing work?
Koenig explains that she gained confidence through trial and error, testing recipes, and embracing the idea that many home bakers are anxious; she aims to empower readers to start somewhere and learn along the way.
Almond Croissant Rugelach With Cookbook Author Leah Koenig
Q: Can you tell us about the brief history of rugelach and where the almond croissant vibe comes from?
Rugelach started as Kipfel in Central Europe; in America, cooks added sour cream and later cream cheese to the dough, giving it a croissant-like texture without laminated dough. Over time, the name rugelach stuck, and the American version evolved to include creamy fillings like Frangipane, which inspired the almond croissant rugelach.
Brown Butter Mochi Bites With Joyce Tang Of Bake Sum Bakery
Q: When did you start leaning into Viennoiserie and how did that influence your career shift?
She describes taking an intensive Viennoiserie course at SFBI, discovering the tangible impact of fresh-baked pastries on colleagues, which helped catalyze leaving tech and pursuing pastry full-time.
Nancy Silverton’s Crème Fraîche Brioche Tart (That Made Julia Child Cry Happy Tears)
Q: Was the egg added to the pre-ferment unusual for brioche, and what is the reasoning behind it?
Adding a beaten egg to the pre-ferment helps enrich the dough and contributes to a richer crumb, a practice Nancy adopted from research and experimentation in her bakery work.
