  • Let them talk!

The guests are great, and I love the idea of the podcast, but Jessie could let them talk more. It really bothers me that she seems to know everything and wants to tell their stories more than she lets them speak. Great to do some research before having them on, but unnecessary to say it all.

  • Fantastic podcast!

I love this podcast. It’s a great mix of professionals and self-taught bakers, and Jessie’s enthusiasm for each topic is infectious. She is fantastic at navigating the conversation between very technical information and candid conversations with the guests. It’s become one on of the pods I look forward to each week!

  • I didn’t come here for diet tips

Really disappointed with the last episode. I’m listening to a baking podcast because I like baking. Being told that I can eat “a little something sweet” but only if it’s “seasoned with sugar” like you’d season with salt and only a BITE OF A COOKIE???? I get that sugar isn’t the best for you. But I don’t appreciate the condescension around food on a BAKING PODCAST.

  • Sally’s baking Addiction

I thoroughly enjoy your interviews but this one with Sally was wonderful. I have been following n using Sally’s recipes for years. She is my go to website when I am looking for a recipe. I love the details she includes with each recipe she has taught me so much over the years. My daughter just gave us a few banana muffins she made and they were so good yep she got the recipe off Sally’s website. Thks for such a great podcast

Shortbread Cookies With Mallory Oniki Of The Palatable Life
Q: Tell us about the book project and the idea of focusing on cookies. What makes it different?
Mallory shares that the book centers on approachable, home-baker-friendly cookies, starting with classics and moving into unexpected flavors, while also teaching the science of cookies to help readers understand the variables that influence results.
Shortbread Cookies With Mallory Oniki Of The Palatable Life
Q: To start us off, can you share an early baking memory and/or an early baked good eating memory from childhood?
Mallory recalls baking cookies solo for the first time and the moment she messed up with baking soda and baking powder, which became a motivating memory that pushed her to perfect the cookie. She also describes a nostalgic memory of her grandma's frosted sugar cookies with almond extract that were stored in the freezer, which she loved as a cold cookie.
Chocolate Chip Scones With Danielle Sepsy Of The Hungry Gnome
Q: What makes your chocolate chip scones distinctive, and how do you approach the recipe?
She emphasizes flake-by-flake cold butter cut into the dry mix, the use of heavy cream for moisture and richness, egg yolks instead of whole eggs, and a careful lamination-like folding to create a tall, flaky scone with a crackled top when baked hot.
Chocolate Chip Scones With Danielle Sepsy Of The Hungry Gnome
Q: When did you decide to turn scone making into a business, and how did that start?
At 13, after presenting ten variations of scones to her family who loved them, she began selling at farmers markets and local cafes, creating samples with her aunt and an early, hand-made business card, which led to immediate customer demand.
Chocolate Chip Scones With Danielle Sepsy Of The Hungry Gnome
Q: Can you start us off with an early baking memory from childhood?
Danielle recalls growing up in a deeply food-centric Italian-American family on Long Island, where Sunday dinners, homemade pasta, and watching Food Network inspired a lifelong love of baking; her eight-year-old stand mixer gift and Martha Stewart Living sparked an early dream to bake professionally.
