I found she recovers two years ago, and have been seeking its guidance since then. It’s amazing how awesome I feel after I listen to a podcast, I definitely know that I’m not alone in my journey.

  • Episode 3

I just began this journey of recovery (47 days)

This is my first review ever and I am doing so because this episode was so meaningful. I struggle with feelings of unworthiness, social anxiety, low confidence stemming from childhood bullying and two unstable parents… which of course led me down the road to having issues with addiction, mainly alcohol. I hope there is more posted on this issue/finding your voice and healing the throat chakra. I have suffered from feeling afraid of my voice since ... more

  • Women for Women

I’m a member of the She Recovers Together Group on Facebook and attend the zoom gatherings. If you have had any trauma or disordered eating, drinking, smoking, pills, etc.. some people are in recovery for “a multitude of things”. This is the place for you to find support from women or persons identifying as female for women or persons identifying as female. I love this group and the podcasts are a great tool for the toolbox to be a healthier and happier you.

  • Very little shared and terrible audio

An important topic, but I kept waiting for substance in this conversation, it never came. Also, the audio was terrible—was the author wearing bracelets while talking with her hands?

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Hold Nothing: Elena Brower on Recovery from Cannabis, Shame & Grief
Q: What does Hold Nothing mean to you now, and how has it shaped your approach to life and recovery?
Hold Nothing evolved from a personal journey of renaming and reframing one's approach to life and recovery. It guides Elena to refuse perfection, embrace impermanence, and stay present with what is, which informs how she interacts with her family, students, and patients—allowing for growth without clinging to outcomes.
Hold Nothing: Elena Brower on Recovery from Cannabis, Shame & Grief
Q: What modalities or tools supported you to stop, and how has that evolved to 11+ years of recovery?
Tools like hypnotherapy, replacing addictive items with art supplies, journaling, meditation, and engaging in service and creative practices helped Elena restructure her environment and mindset. Over time, these practices deepened into a sustainable recovery anchored in daily rituals and community involvement.
Hold Nothing: Elena Brower on Recovery from Cannabis, Shame & Grief
Q: How did you go from hiding your use to recovering out loud, and do you think hiding was tied to shame?
Elena describes moving from secrecy to recovery out loud as a gradual shift sparked by a candid conversation with a mentor and by realizing the need for accountability and visibility in her healing. She acknowledges that shame played a role, but emphasizes repair through vulnerability, humor, and making amends, especially with her son, which helped normalize recovery and reduce the stigma around seeking help.
All The Way to the River with Elizabeth Gilbert
Q: What is your process for turning lived pain into art that heals?
Start with yourself and tell your story honestly, first to yourself and then to others. The work is about shaping personal truth into an experience that resonates and helps readers or listeners find their own path to healing.
Sobriety, Breathwork, and Reclaiming Indigenous Roots with Ariana Fotinakis
Q: What does reclaiming Indigenous roots look like for you, and how has it supported your recovery and healing journey?
She explains how embracing Indigenous identity—through genealogy, community, and cultural practices—has provided a sense of belonging and responsibility. Reconnection with land, lineage, and urban Indigenous spaces helped shift her healing from mere personal recovery toward collective healing and responsibility, reinforcing that recovery is a ripple effect across families and communities.
