Season 1 Shandee’s Story could be forgiven for its repetition of information given the subject matter and the outcome. Season 2 Shandee’s Legacy is an indulgent, repetitive, drawn out unnecessarily long and difficult listen. I had to ffwd through endless repetition of things Amanda said or wrote thst I was coming to learn word for word, and audioclips of a scene from Seinfeld, or the Bill Clinton broadway show (or some other such rubbish a line said in court reminded the narrators of). Just summ... more
When you sign on to a Hedley podcast, you know it is going to be extremely detailed and therefore a lengthy affair. His work is remarkable on every level. With this story I did feel like it could have been trimmed down some. I didn’t feel there was a lot of value-add to some of the later episodes. But it’s great how he exposes a larger issue by telling the story of a single injustice.
This podcast is incredible for what it’s uncovered that the former Labor govt relentlessly tried to cover up. Fantastic investigative journalism. Disgraceful actions of the Palaszczuk government who created smoke and mirrors for more than a decade and flicked every single victim of crime in Queensland the bird. Makes me feel sick how Queenslanders voted them in and they abused their power to the detriment of us all.
What a powerful and effective podcast.
Thank you for pursuing Shandy’s case and the failures of the Queensland Forensic Lab, Hedley - you ( and Kirsty) have really held the government to account, along with the lazy, inept, dishonest public servants who have totally failed Queenslanders, especially victims of crimes.
If only all journalists had such integrity and worked as diligently and thoroughly.
Episode 17 why so political Hedley? Big plug for Murdoch & Skynews. I’ve listened to ALL your podcasts you & your team are sublime investigative journalists. Please don’t ruin it by including idiotic Skynews would be journos. You are credible and so skilled.

A hard-hitting, long-form investigative series that examines high-profile criminal cases, forensic science failures, and systemic reform. Listeners gravitate toward meticulous reporting, deep-dive interviews, and accountability-driven storytelling around justice and public institutions. A standout is the thorough exploration of DNA lab mishaps and their impact on real people, with ongoing legal and policy debates driving new inquiries and potential prosecutions. The show's rigorous journalism and willingness to tackle entrenched power are noteworthy, though some episodes and legal sideshifts have drawn criticism for length or balance. This makes it a strong pick for fans of true crime, public affairs, and investigative reporting, especially... more
