  • Need more diverse scrum master experiences

It would be advantageous to have Scrum Masters with experience across various domains, such as banking, pharmacy, and other sectors where software development is prevalent. This diversity would bring a versatile range of working styles and practices to our software development processes, enhancing our overall effectiveness and adaptability as Scrum Masters.

  • The podcast feels like a company trying to promote itself instead of being an entertaining and educational resource. Although this is in English the host and many of the guests have a thick accent that takes away from the show. I would skip this one, there are many other better casts out there.

When the Blame Game Between Product and Engineering Destroys Your Scrum Team From the Inside | Nate Amidon
Q: What's the book that most inspired you in your career as a Scrum Master?
Nate cites Deep Work as foundational for protecting engineers' focus time, followed by Project to Product to emphasize team structure and organizational thinking at scale, especially beyond junior Scrum Master roles.
The Leadership Void — What Happens When Product Owners Forget They're Part of the Scrum Team | Nate Amidon
Q: What is the worst, potentially, product owner anti-pattern you've witnessed in your career?
The worst anti-patterns come from product owners who don't embrace leadership of the backlog and fail to feel part of the team, often throwing work over the wall and not engaging with the team, which leads to disengagement and a leadership void.
Why Scrum Master Success Means Owning the Entire Idea-to-Deployed Pipeline | Nate Amidon
Q: How do you talk to your team about what success means for Scrum Masters?
Success means maximizing value delivered by the product through the organization, aligning the team around why they exist, and measuring both delivery and impact while maintaining clear, consistent communication.
Why Scrum Master Success Means Owning the Entire Idea-to-Deployed Pipeline | Nate Amidon
Q: What's your favorite Agile retrospective format and why?
A meme retrospective engages the team by letting them find memes that describe the last sprint, which opens up honest discussions about issues and opportunities for improvement while keeping engagement high.
The Hidden Cost of Distributed Agile Teams — When Time Zones and Misaligned Incentives Silently Kill Value Delivery | Nate Amidon
Q: How can teams begin to address these incentives and time-zone issues without overhauling contracts?
Start by exposing how each party is incentivized and how they are measured, then look for practical adjustments such as aligning recognition with value delivery, facilitating more direct communication during overlap windows, and negotiating contractual terms that allow flexibility (e.g., at-will contracts) to reduce rigidity while maintaining accountability.
