Thank you both for this endeavor. So much insight and intelligent discussion within. The guests/interviews are always illuminating.. cos of the smart questions asked.
Ellen’s opinions are sometimes predictably cynical .. is it a Gen Z or a Millennial thing? Much is judged through the lens of hindsight, decades of internet discussion and general frustration with our devolving society.
Understandably so, and her viewpoint is still crucial. Agreed or not, her takes are always thoughtful and rele... more
Great opinions, ideas and discourse about films. Incredibly hard to find something as well researched and enjoyable as this. Keep on truckin.
Dr Kermode is - as always - fantastic. A fount of knowledge, and endlessly entertaining. The frequent wokery from Ms Jones, however, is endlessly irritating.
One listens to such podcasts for entertainment, not to be preached at by the ignorant.
Hitmen. I had no idea I wasn't allowed to like La Femme Nikita, because women are objectified (Even though for about 30 years it hasn't crossed my mind).
But it's ok for Brad Pitt to look sexy in Killing Them Softly, or a sexy professor in 'Hitmen' (which my predictive text changed to 'hotmen'🤭🤭) or 'Le Samurai’ which everyone on the podcast say the hitman has to be sexually attractive and isn't it wonderful.
I give up.
'LFNikita':11/10.
'Kill List': best British film ever.
Podcast: 7/10
