  • Kudos

Great title of the latest episode - the level of complacency in the market is both surprising and concerning. Spoke to several guys from commodities desks here in the UAE in the past several days, everyone is scratching their head as to why on Earth oil is not 140-150$ yet. If anything makes sense less than this is VIX at 25 at the time of the writing!

  • Very good—- but

Excellent way to get the morning started — host is very well read and thoughtful—but…. His political bias is obvious — a bit cringe as he tries to come off as “ just calling balls and strikes “… but there is a seething there

  • Attempt to be unbiased

The show provides a decent daily summary of the news and rumours circulating on Fintwit. But the host has Trump Derangement Syndrome - he struggles to speak for more than a few minutes without injecting conspiracy theories, and straw-man arguments from Blue sky.

Q: How does the Xi-Trump summit and potential access to semiconductor equipment influence market expectations for tech equities?
The conversation suggests a possible easing of supply constraints for semiconductors if a deal improves access to equipment and chips, which could support tech equities and reduce some upside pressures, though investors remain wary of broader geopolitical risk and the need for ongoing policy clarity.
Dip bought as Jensen Huang joins Trump in China. Also: oil, gold and wheat.
Q: What are you looking for next in the oil market given current tensions and supply dynamics?
Ole Hansen notes that despite elevated crude, US exports and production have risen while imports into China have slowed, mitigating deficits for now; however, any continued disruption could test inventories and push prices higher, with attention on SPR releases and potential demand destruction from pricing.
Global markets are still only pricing for modest disruptions from Iran war.
Q: Given the two‑week timeframe, what is the most likely path for oil prices over the next week or two?
The baseline is a relatively mild deterioration or slight stabilization near current levels, with sharper moves possible if disruption extends beyond two weeks or if key chokepoints like Hormuz see renewed stress; scenarios range from a quick unwind to a longer, more structural shift in energy pricing.
