  • Why separate features??

    Hello,

Please play as one continuous show as in the present format I can’t listen while out walking or driving due the current format of several separate features. It’s my favourite programme on radio but often missed because of the ‘bitty’ podcast presentation.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Cost of War with David McWilliams
Q: So who will ultimately foot the bill?
The host frames the issue and McWilliams explains that costs will accrue beyond immediate budgets, including debt servicing, energy prices, and long-term economic repercussions, with particular emphasis on oil prices and their knock-on effects.
The Middle East Conflict and Global Shipping Concerns
Q: So if cargo cannot move freely, what impact will be felt at home?
It would trigger inflationary pressures and higher shipping costs, disrupting supply chains, and potentially raising prices for goods dependent on Gulf-region oil and LNG, with wider ripple effects across energy and fertilizer markets.
Is a Global Recession on the Cards?
Q: How might Europe and Ireland be affected domestically and how should policy respond?
Residents would face higher energy costs and consumers would feel the impact at the pump and home heating; policymakers should target support efficiently, avoid blanket subsidies, and focus on durable infrastructure and public services to offset the medium-term effects.
Is a Global Recession on the Cards?
Q: What could be the longer-term economic consequences if the conflict lasts a year or more?
A sustained shock would push energy prices higher, raise inflation and borrowing costs, potentially trigger negative growth in Europe, and force policymakers to balance subsidies with long-term investment in infrastructure and services.
Oisin Hanrahan: The Rathcoole Man Revolutionising Retail
Q: How do you think people's concerns about AI are playing out?
Hanrahan acknowledges the enormous potential impact of AI on society and business, noting a shift in perspectives from skepticism to recognizing its effects.
