Don’t bother breaking it up but good job and start telling us about secret payments

    I’d like an Irish version.

  • Lots of Mixups

I've been subscribed for quite a while but there are constant Mixups lately where music and talk shows are uploaded to this podcast instead of the applicable news segments.

  • Good

My only complaints are that I'd prefer it to focus more on international and economic news and less on local stories, and that there often seem to be practical issues with it such as parts of the show left out and ads left in.

I wish RTÉ would put out Nuacht ag a Sé and the audio from the tv news as podcasts too.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Donald Trump has warned Iran that 'the clock is ticking' as talks to bring the war to an end have stalled
Q: Sebastian, where do the talks stand now?
The talks remain in a stalemate with no clear concessions from either side, though both are signaling positions and testing new proposals; there is no guarantee of a breakthrough in the near term.
Transport executive to appear before PAC over Irish Rail's decision to scrap a new IT system costing €50 million
Q: Martin, will you bring us back to the start of it? What was this computer system supposed to do?
The system was intended to run the signaling network and manage train movements across the network, with safety being a major concern due to sections with single-track operation requiring careful coordination.
Around 350 Irish-based jobs are under threat at Facebook's parent company, Meta
Q: Bryan, will you bring us through what's been happening this morning and why?
The staff in Meta's Irish office received early-morning emails about potential redundancies, triggering a 30-day consultation process under Irish law, with redeployment options and final figures to follow as part of the Collective Redundancy Notification to the Department of Enterprise.
Plans to establish a direct DART service connecting Dublin city centre and Navan
Q: Is this Navan railway line finally going to happen?
Yes, officials and the council indicate the project is on track with announced plans for construction, new stations, and an explicit timeline, signaling progress after years of campaigning and uncertainty.
Marco Rubio will meet the Pope tomorrow after weeks of friction between the Vatican and the White House
Q: So is Marco Rubio then the Secretary of State? Is he on a fence-mending mission?
The host clarifies that Rubio is not officially the Secretary of State in this context; the discussion frames Rubio's visit as a diplomatic, though not formal, effort to repair ties, with both sides aiming to discuss common interests and diffuse tensions.
