  • Way too many short clips

As an Irishman living in Africa, RTE is the best source for Audubon news updates, but why can it not be more streamlined. So many short repetitive clips that fill up the playing list.

Please provide a separate option to listen back to the whole show in one podcast. Thanks.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Trump replaces Bondi with former personal lawyer
Q: Firstly, Scott, Pam Bondi, she would have been seen once as one of President Trump's closest allies. Do we know why she was fired?
Scott Lucas explains that Bondi was perceived as unable to deliver prosecutions as Trump demanded, and that the firing aligns with a broader pattern of loyalty testing and reshaping the Justice Department to fit Trump's political aims.
Concern over Israel's plans to set up buffer zone in South Lebanon
Q: Why can't the government step in and try to take the arms from Hezbollah? Is it because government is done by consensus there and 27 members of the 128 member parliament support Hezbollah?
The guest explains that Lebanon's political system makes disarming non-state actors extremely difficult; consensus-based governance, competing loyalties, and fear of destabilizing civil order constrain the government from forcefully disarming Hezbollah, complicating efforts to restore security while trying to protect civilians.
Change in mortgage rules to benefit downsizing homeowners - Tánaiste
Q: Charlie, why is this rule, which effectively excluded many older home owners from accessing bridging loans, being changed?
The change is being made because the rule was hindering older homeowners from downsizing, as the income-based limits made bridging finance harder to obtain even when it was practical to move. Exempting bridging loans from the income rule aims to reduce this barrier and unlock homes for younger families when suitable properties become available.
Motorists advised to take care with Storm Dave to arrive
Q: What are the chances that this is the last storm before the summer?
The forecaster couldn't give a definitive answer and said it's uncertain, noting that weather patterns beyond Tuesday look unsettled and difficult to predict.
Irish Road Hauage Association to meet with Transport Minister over rising fuel prices
Q: Eugene, what concerns will you be raising with the Minister this morning?
The interviewee outlines cash-flow issues, immediate payment demands from hauliers, and specific potential measures like carbon-tax considerations, VAT impact, and suspending certain excise elements to stabilize costs in the near term.
